Tacview in 1.1.10?

Aries

Recommended Posts

My Tacview 1.1 doesn't seem to record missions anymore...:(:(:(

The option to record DCS A-10C Flights was somehow unchecked after patch 1.1.10 and even after manual re-enabling of the option it didn't record zip...

Please, I need feedback to see if this is just my problem or not... :helpsmilie:

Yes, I am experiencing the same problem. Hope there's a fix/workaround soon.

I've got the same problem with Tacview 1.0 on DCS A-10 1.1.1.0 and BS2. Some Object_Type referenced in the export script are no more defined in the DCS database (the script could not be executed).

To fix it, until an official patch from the Tacview team, I've commented the

following lines in the "DCS A-10C\Config\Export\TacviewExportDCS.lua" export script file (i.e. append -- at their beginning):

(l.83) -- [wsTypeAutogun] = 0x2c, -- Infantry

(l.84) -- [wsTypeSoldier_AK] = 0x2c, -- Infantry

(l.85) -- [wsTypeSandbox] = 0x89, -- Building

(l.86) -- [wsTypeBunker] = 0x89, -- Building

(l.91) -- [wsTypeRPG] = 0x2c, -- Infantry

(l.92) -- [wsTypeSoldier_RPG] = 0x2c, -- Infantry

(l.97) -- [wsTypePredator_TrojanSpirit] = 0x28, -- Light/Unarmed vehicles

(l.98) -- [wsTypePredator_GCS] = 0x28, -- Light/Unarmed vehicles

I hope it will work for you on Tacview 1.1.

I use Notepad++.

If you edit the TacviewExportDCS.lua directly in the DCS A-10C\Config\Export\ folder, you should adjust its security property to be able to save your changes (if you don't want to change these security properties, copy the script on your desktop, make the changes and save it, then copy it back to the DCS folder).

Yes, it works on Tacview 1.0 with the 1.1.1.0 patch (and also with BS2).

Tried with a rollback to Tacview 1.0 and the script edit... all works!!! Wuhuuuu!!!

I got a reply from Vyrtuoz, author of Tacview... he really is working on a fix...

Thanks god it'll be fixed, all this crappy stuff going on with the last patch & no Tacview took away half the magic of my simming...

EDIT:

Tried the edit on the server script with Tacview 1.1, it also works so it must have been the file permissions after all, on my first try...

Once again, TheMonk... you are the man!!!

Thanks Aries. I'm happy to hear that it works for you and that Vyrtuoz will officially fix it.

PS: To make this patch I've just edit the dcs.log file (stored in the user game directory each time you launch dcs) and found the following line :

00044.667 ALERT EDCORE: Can't execute Lua file ./Config/Export/Export.lua - [string "./Config/Export/TacviewExportDCS.lua"]:83: table index is nil

Then, Vyrtuoz comments in the script were clear enough to understand what was going wrong.

I was going to mention that a few units had been changed in the wsUnit script file, but someone already figured that out.

It would be nice if you mentioned it before the patch... now I have to replay a dozen training tracks in realtime to get the Tacview records of it & it's a little annoying...

Is there a way to get it work for BS2 in a similar way as A10C?

The thing is, helicopters are different from planes. An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.

Already done, placing the corrected file in the export directory of BS2. But it seems not working.

That's strange. Since it works for me it should works for you.

Be aware that to activate the tacview exportation you should not only put the TacviewExportDCS.lua file in the DCS Black Skark 2\Config\Export directory. You should also :

- set EnableExportScript to true in the DCS Black Skark 2\Config\Export\Config.lua file.

- append :

dofile("./Config/Export/TacviewExportDCS.lua")

at the end of DCS Black Skark 2\Config\Export\Export.lua file.

This happen to me only if i re-check the A10-C record option in the Tacview menù.

To record an ACMI with A10 1.1.1.0 I do not have to re-check it... seems that Tacview check the TacviewExportDCS file size to choose if consider it checked or not in the option menù.

Mmm, just visited Vyrtuoz's site, and there's a download there titled "Tacview 1.1.1beta2" dated 2011/11/26 for registered users. Is that what we've been waiting for ?

http://lomac.strasoftware.com/tacview-download-en.php

Edit : tested it with A10 1.1.10 and it works.
