Hi, what causes torque to rise rapidly when opening fuel flow lever slowly during startup? I wait until rpm reaches idle around 25000 rotor brake off, slowly moving fuel flow lever until rotor starts moving wait until rotor rpm syncs with turbine (torque will be around 20%) slowly move fuel flow lever: Torque will rise quickly and reaches 100% I haven't found any mentions in the checklists and startup guides.

Hello everyone, Yesterday I tried the cold start without APU. First I got an external ground power supply and the starter did not work. Then I got external ground air supply, and the starter worked and powered the generator in the engine. But ChatGPT told me that the starter of the AH-64D only works with electric power and not with compressed air. And that the engine cannot be started with compressed air either, but only with the electrically powered starter. Is ChatGPT wrong?

Hi, AFAIK ever ytime you start the Chopper everything will be fine and dandy - so basically checklist-checks like lights-test or engine-fire-test are totally pointless because nothing is ever wrong/broken anyways. Therefore I'd like to ask for some (configurable) "Problem"-Generator (before and In-Flight) to force you doing the pre-flight checks right or you might miss something. I know that's a little bit of a "Hardcore" feature but I think a variety of virtual Pilots would appreciate that, as it creates another level of challenge. Regards Hawk

There's been plenty of times where I join a random server and stumble upon there only being hot start slots, with optionally some cold start slots far far away from the AO. Hotstarts are immensely immersion-breaking for me and take away a great part of the experience of using DCS, namely going through the whole startup sequence. First shutting down a hotstarted aircraft is not an option, imho. To alleviate this issue and that of mission makers having to add two slots to accommodate for those wanting cold starts and those wanting hot starts, I'd like to propose to allow the user to decide whether ramp/ground starts (Takeoff from ramp, Takeoff from parking hot, Takeoff from ground, Takeoff from ground hot) are hot or cold. Essentially merging the types leaving us with Takeoff from ramp and Takeoff from ground. I'd imagine one way of allowing a user to decide would be to show a checkbox or combobox for ramp start slots which allows the user to select which type they'd like. Naturally, startup types should still be enforceable for mission makers and to preserve backcompat with older missions.

Hello, I'm new here, but not to DCS World. My father loves DCS World but one thing pretty much takes away his ability to do many missions that require a hot jet. His game, regardless if it's in the air or on the ground hot setting, is ALWAYS cold and dark. For example, we start him in the air for a quick mission, cold and dark jet. Instant action on the catapult??? Cold and dark jet. I was able to help him get setup since his DCS download was incomplete. It didn't even have a Run.exe program. As far as I know it doesn't have an updater.exe but I can check with him. He's reinstalled twice to my knowledge but the problem persists. What do you guys think it is? Should I just tell him to raise a ticket? Or, since my DCS is doing well, just transfer some main files over to him? Thanks everyone, Sabre65

One of the guys in my squadron has spend lots, and lots of time learning the AH64. He walks me through a cold start on the AH64 as it is at initial release.

Last patch 2.9.1.4 Exterior Lighting on Hornet no longer works if the jet is on cold start. Hot start is fine. Video is from a campaign which was working fine before patch. Notice the other AI jets also have no lights. Dcs 2023-11-17 21-42-35.mkv
