New updater dooms me

So I used to play the 1.2.6 DCS with Flaming Cliffs 3 and it worked splendidly, loved it to bits.

Then the 1.2.7 update comes out. I am then forced to the update since I uninstalled the game to reinstall it to a better hard drive. But when I attempt to start the update and play, it Never, I repeat, Never, goes out of, "replacing old updater". I left my computer on and got a good 8 hours of sleep and this thing didn't even budge. Not only that, Ctrl+alt+Del, shutdown commands, restart, and logoff commands don't respond when the updater is open. Basically the game is doomed for me and I can't restart unless I force shut it down (Unplug power cable /or/ hold down power button)

 

Blissful game, dreadful Updater. Would love some help.

Yes I always run the updater and game as admin. Windows account is admin as well.

Hmmmm, so this happens every time you try the update? Just sits and doesnt do anything? Can you try a repair?

It does happen every single time I attempt to update. I don't really know what you mean by "repair" the program. I tried opening DCS, it opens just fine apparently, it's just that whenever the program tries to use the updater it just does what I say above. Hopefully the game won't do that. I'm stuck with the updater because Flaming Cliffs 3 install says, "can't install FC3 1.2.7.23097 into older DCS 1.2.6.17746. Please, use"Update DCS world" menu item and install again".

Are you running BitDefender or Malwarebytes anti virus? Try disabling before updating.

I have the exact same problem. Once I try updating, NOTHING else works. When I restart my pc, it tells me my version is not compatible.

yep, read it before I posted. I am running Bitdefender but disabled it. Will run it again just for the record....could be a problem with bitdefender.

There was a post when 1.2.7 came out and the common problem with the updater was bitdefender. Some were able to just disable. Most had to completely uninstall bitdefender. There should be an exempt/whitelist option you could try adding the updater to the list and see if that works.

Actually I do have Bitdefender running. I'll re-install the game on another drive, disable all features of bitdefender and give it another go.

I turned bitdefender off, and reinstalled the game to get the updater, but now it just seems like it doesn't want to even attempt to update, it just shows the command prompt for a split second and then launches the game, with internet enabled. Meh, I bet downloading and reinstalling the newest version of DCS will give me more luck.

I tried that. It looked like it worked, but then DCS was still 1.2.6. I also start to get, "DCS has stopped working" while it's trying to load up at about 12%.

DCS Updater for 127 Breaks Single player

 

....I have posted on a few of the bug reports about 127 updater and no logical reason as to why it prevents operation of the single player option ( I can get into muti player!) I have just finished ripping everything DCS from my flying machine this morning and did a compleatly freshly downloaded install and "VIOLA" the problem is still present Quote; "The process cannot access the file it it being used by anouther process." This came up every sence the 127 version came out when trying to start single player.

...... Now this morning it has re-appeared again... just after reinstalling the DCS world "only" with no modules involved..WTF...!!! I can not get to single player / options /editor nouthing now sence the 127 came out of BETA and was dubbed finial version...127 good to go! not! Any one got any ideas as how to make it work again? Anyone having the same issue? (misery loves company!)

 

Is there a way to make the auto updater NOT work on start up of the single player option? Help!

Funny Mojeaux, in the past, I could never get multiplayer to work, it would crash the game whenever I tried and I couldn't do anything to fix it, but single player worked perfectly. Now it works, but there's no FC3 F-15 or SU-33 because the game doesn't want to update :(

I don't run any modules except P51 and FC3

well thanks for the update wolf rider; Now updater is still killing me!!!! Flash it don't work!! Tech support can NOT help!!

 

I even re imaged my set up with acrons back to December 15th of 2013 where the 126 was running great... I started the 126 single player icon with no issues as normal... I then uninstall all and everything DCS with the exception of the regestry. DCS was then reinstall up to the new 127..and VIOLA..it Still dose not work! still saying that the updater is still trying to be used by anouther application. I CAN"T START SINGLE PLAYER" Error messages prevent 127 from starting!!! And DCS says they can't do anything about it!! WTF?

Ok so I just installed the latest DCS world and disregarded the updater, and installed FC3 with no problems whatsoever. Love the new update, just without the updater itself. Gata praise Eagle Dynamics for their work.

I just got rid of the DCS worl shortcut from the desktop and created launcher.exe shortcut instead. If I use the dcs world shortcut the autoupdater just freezes with the green line moving.....wait an hour and have to ctrl=alt+del and end the task.

 

Otherwise, great work on the release ed, love it
