Picksplitter Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I had a dream last night... honest. Felt like it lasted 4 hours. I was flying a de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito around and thru New York city.... wow, what a rush! Slipping thru and around all those buildings was a really trippy thing. Anyway... I hope I'm not alone with this weirdness! I've never asked DCS for anything, but now I just have to say.... can we have the Mosquito.. can we, huh, can we? Acer AMD Phenom II x 4 840T, 16 gb. memory, Zotac GTX580 Amp2 3GB, 40" Philips tv, Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog, Saitek Combat Rudders , Cougar MFCD's w/ 21.5" LG monitor, DSD Track Master button box, 3rd. century Roman field comanders helmet w/ Track IR 5, Windows 7 Home P. “God is a comedian, playing to an audience that's afraid to laugh.”... WildBillKelsoe Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 well what you think you had 4 hours worth of dream is actually maybe a minute or two.... according to inception® convertion factor (ICF)... you know... in our sleep our brains function alot faster than we're awake... AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
VincentLaw Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 you know... in our sleep our brains function alot faster than we're awake... I have read that is not true. Apparently eye motion in dreams can be detected by an observer outside the dream. Test subjects asked to move their eyes a certain way in a certain time interval matched the correct time interval in real life, which means that time perception is the same inside and outside of dreams. That is kind of off topic though so... Two nights ago I had a dream that I got an 80% warn level on the DCS forums. Maybe it was for being off topic in this thread. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Trooper117 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I had a dream the other night... the bit I remember is when my girlfriend whispered ''where did you hide the gold?'... lol! Can you do something about that DCS?
Rotorhead Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 OK, talking about aviation dreams, I had two worth mentioning. First one, I was flying an airliner, when suddenly, the master caution light went off and alarm started to beep. I checked everything, and seeing there is nothing wrong, I pushed the caution light to reset it and silence the beeping. The same situation repeated at least twice, until I realized it's my (real world) alarm clock beeping, telling me to wake up and go to work... :D The second one has some lengthy backstory to it: I have a new co-worker who recently moved in from the other end of the country, and he found out I am an aviation fan who occasionally visits airshows. He admitted he'd like to visit one with his kids as well (he never did before), and asked which good ones are taking place somewhere nearby. So I gave him a few tips, and promised that I will bring him an USB-stick with pictures I took at those shows. I uploaded those pics on my USB-stick, and went to bed. Before falling asleep, I remembered: "Oh, I forgot to put that USB into my bag, now there is no chance to do it morning before leaving to work, 'cause I'll surely forget it overnight. No matter, I'm not getting out of the bed again, I will bring it another day." And I fell asleep. And I had a dream: I was onboard a rescue helicopter, sitting in the back, while there was a nice looking young lady flying the chopper, and an older instructor telling her where to land etc. Sort of familiarization flight or something. After I woke up, I thought: "That was a weird dream, I was flying in a helicopter... Oh! Helicopter! I have to bring that USB-stick!" :D True story. :)

Scrim Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 First one, I was flying an airliner, when suddenly, the master caution light went off and alarm started to beep. The same situation repeated at least twice, until I realized it's my (real world) alarm clock beeping, telling me to wake up and go to work... :D I had a similar thing today, though I'm not sure if I experienced it awake, semi awake, or fully asleep. Well, can't have been fully awake due to the weirdness. I wake up (semi awake, or fully awake in dream) to hear the alarm clock beeping like crazy, and being told to knock out some tanks (flown a lot of A-10C lately). Since I'm very much aware that it is my bed room that I am seeing, and not the cockpit of an A-10 or the barracks of an air force base, I quickly reach the conclusion that I'm just having a really weird dream. And thus I out right Rocky Balboa punch the off toggle on the alarm clock. 30 minutes later I awake to the realisation that the tank thing was a weird ass dream, but that my alarm clock was very much real. The closest thing to any aero related matters that happened at this point on wards was perhaps me rushing of to work at a speed that would've impressed a scrambling RAF pilot during the Battle of Britain.
Picksplitter Posted February 28, 2014 Author Posted February 28, 2014 Thanks Rotorhead.... so I'm not alone! This is what I was wondering. Didn't see this as becoming a 'time' debate. I know one can dream a day in 4 minutes or less. 3 times I've had my life 'flash before my eyes'.... and that happened in what can only be described as nano-seconds. 'Aware' time vs 'dream' time vs 'universe' time is another philosophical debate for another place. Really was just wondering if anyone else has 'flying' dreams.... so thanks again! JB3DG Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 The number of times I have solved my FS addon programming problems in my sleep....Seriously it actually happens. I see a bug in the simulator in my dream that I haven't even encountered yet (last minute code changes before going to bed without testing) and instantly pinpoint it to some line in the code. Next morning I test in the sim and sure enough what I expected happened. And the solution from the dream is usually the correct one. The brain is amazing...
