But it's 60 mb's :-(

Wish we had a possibility to edit tracks, like a Rewind command too, and a start - end option to cut out part to use for bug reports.

Sounds like they HoJ'ed on you.

There is no launch warning if a missile is homing in on your jamming? It would make sense but did not know it was possible.

HoJ requires no radiation by the weapon radar, thus no warning.

Given the type of jammer that is modeled it makes sense, but it is the wrong type of jammer for fighters.

Understood. Same method as a IR missile. Homing in on the source of the emissions it's intended to hunt, but not emitting anything from it's seeker to give it away as far as launching. Is that are fair way of saying it? If thats the case then I am baffled as to why in the A-10C you get a launch warning coming from friendlies firing mavericks at ground targets? I know this may be going on a tangent and probably a dumb question to most, but if it can be answered respectfully I would appreciate it. :)

The A-10C is equipped with an optical missile warning system that is different from the RWR. Thus, it detects launches of ANY type of missile anywhere within its detection range, regardless of what that missile is targeting.

If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.

Thanks Pyroflash for that explanation. I need to find more downtime so I can get into some deeper reading on these birds.

But being killed by HoJ mode requires you to be flying potato than fighter pilot, something changed in this matter?

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

The A10 MWS looks for smoke contrails.

Well, the missile missed me and i got both su33's , but i simply had no idea a missile was fired at me untill i saw the tac file.

Because the heat signature of 1 rocket motor looks much like the heat signature of any other rocket motor ?

Cheers.

We probably won't know, but wouldn't be plausible that IRL the trajectory of the missile is taken into account to find out if it is relevant before giving a launch warning? It becomes completely useless in a busy battlefield. I haven't checked in a long time but it even gives warnings from a vehicle engaging another vehicle with TOWs.

The RWR system searchs for a "strong radar" origin which an enemy would be if he locks onto you or the missile if it switches to active steering (using own radar systems). The RWR system isn't perfect and afaik they implemented some sort of "sometimes its not working 100%".

Edit : Sry thought it's about the russians :P

Given that it can be triggered by welding torches, I'd say no.

As far as the A-10 launch warning system goes, it's looking for blackbody radiation characteristic of a certain range of heats that are typically found in rocket/missile motor exhausts. I think I read somewhere that it's some portion of the UV range of the spectrum (makes sense if a rocket exhaust is hotter than 'white hot' metals).

Meaning that any object that is hot enough, large enough, and close enough will generate a signal. Also anything that emits EM of the right frequency, such as perhaps electrical arcs.

Makes me wonder, anyone know if it registers lightning as missile launches in real life?

Callsign "Auger". It could mean to predict the future or a tool for boring large holes.

I combine the two by predictably boring large holes in the ground with my plane.

Actually I have had the AI do this several times in single player, at close range. I was thinking it was an ET as it was launched without there even being a nail on the RWR, and I sent him defensive immediately, yet the missile continued to track. The debriefing indicated it as being an ER. This was in 1.2.7 when I first noticed it happening. Haven't tested/noticed it yet in 1.2.8.

No locktone, no missile warning , it was in multiplayer but the pilots were A.I i think .

How is possible ?

(and no, they were not ET's)

Russian jets using infrared "radar" and infrared missiles, not AI.

Wait. Maximus specifically stated that it was not an ET (which is an infrared missile).

There is no such thing as "infrared radar." And I am not even sure that you understood what AI (Artificial Intelligence) means. The way you wrote "[...], not AI" can lead us think that for you, it is another type of missile.

I do not intend to be aggressive. But I do not like it when someone comes and answers a question, obviously without reading others' answers (I do that as well, but I notify it in my post), being so affirmative and using misleading terms.

Maximus, you could still upload the 60Mb' track onto a server (lot of websites offer that service) and post a direct link in here. I am currently unable to watch any of them. But someone else might ;)

I read the thread. I know what A.I. is. The question is: did the mission in Message #1 have active AI enemy in it? If not, it was not A.I.

How does ML know it was not IR?

I have a few flyable A.I. mods and the EFA mod for FC2.

See page 140, "Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 2 Flight Manual", the hardcopy book copyrighted 2010, re: IRST and EOS in Russian aircraft.

The Russian IR missile does not need to be an ET designation.

I got hit in MP, never saw it coming. Instantly back on the page to select another aircraft. I never use the ECM jammers; I learned flying on the 104th server not to emit because enemy jets pickup on that to locate me. What occurs on SP training mission sorties does not relate very well on MP with thinking humans.

How does IFF work in DCS as a fired friendly missile does not acquire a friendly? In VRS Superbug, if my IFF code is not set correctly, friendly missiles will ruin my day.

I gotta' tell you though, I am becoming less and less active on forums because of unfriendly skies here.
