Sorry if this has been discussed before. I was wondering if BST is planning to implement the sling load operations with the Mi8 like the one with the UH-1H? Or maybe it is already the case with 1.2.8 (haven't tried it yet).

Thanks.

Yes! we plan to do it (Sling Load) for the Mi-8, but first perform "tweaking technology" on the UH-1H+Sling Load ))

Keep up the good work, I'm sure that this issue is well known to you guys, even when it has no [REPORTED] tag at the topic name

Thanks. Yes, I assume once it's all fine on the Huey, it would be quick to implement this on the Mi8 and make it work straight out of the box.

This sling load ops are really exciting and opens a whole new world for our missions. Keep up the good work (and release an Mi8 complete manual asap please!!)

i dont know why... but we flown a few planes with our lama and we always hang them like the where flying by it self. But we put a net over the wing, so they are not able the generating any lift anymore :) also a bigbag or a Parachute on the Vertical Stabilizer, so the plane is not able to spin around.

When you do it, like the Mi-26 on the Pics, then it can cause, that the Plane swings and spins around. with the Heavy Load it would be pretty dangerous...

Helog-Heliswiss have done it too with a Mirage but im not able to find any pictures :/

Not trying to be a PITA, but do you have any idea when there will be sling load capability for the MI-8?

Not that I can do it myself, I can't do it in the Huey either. :D

(Although I imagine it might actually be easier in the Mi-8 since it is the bigger heli. I might be wrong though...)

Also as long as there is no English cockpit for the Mi-8 I won't fly it that often anyway, so no hurry. I'm just interested because what we have with the Huey seems to work pretty fine already. :)

Aginor, Devrim has an English cockpit mod for the Mi-8 available for download, if you're interested. I use it with no issues, it helps a lot in discovering switch functions until the Mi-8 has a more comprehensive manual released.

Check it out and PM me if you have trouble installing it.

I read in the Mr. Mason book... 'Chickenhawk' (a must read, if you have not already) where a crew cheif slung a spare rotor blade under a Huey 'end on'... it started to oscillate when air-borne, swung up... and then destroyed the ship. If I remember correctly the resulting crash killed the crew as well! :(

Thankfully we only have to hit the 'ESC' key... and yes, the sling loads are good fun with the DCS Huey, great work guys :)
