Last night I was flying on a server with an A-10C.

I got shot by a strela and both of my engines died.

I made a late turn towards land, so I landed about 50 meters off shore in water.

What was shocking to me is that I actually did land, I didn't "blow up".

Just wondering if this is a bug or are landings on water possible in DCS

I did sink after landing though :)

Failure is the mother of all success.

Why would it be a bug if you didn´t explode?

It´s a bug if you do explode imho.

Well, never thought landing on water might be modeled in DCS, that's why I'm a bit confused.

Neither did I. This gives hope. Now I'm just waiting for someone to make the first properly simulated seaplane ;) .

Given enough time, this will happen.

Not a bug, seen many planes land on water. Need a bit of luck though.

Cool, good to know!

Any reports of landings more than 50meters off shore?

DCS does not currently simulate the sea floor, so it is equally possible to land any distance off shore. It does simulate stream beds (at least for ground vehicles, but that may be built into the ground vehicle model).

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

Can you use the ejection seat underwater? I read that's actually been done.

Thanks for the video of that Mi-8 Mike.

Still after all this time, I find something new about DCS that I really like. Thanks ED! :)

I didn't try it, but I think it should be possible. Go ahead and try and report your findings :)
