Isegrim Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 (edited) Are you stating that the color filter works on a different camera from the one outputing video to the Kamov monitor and hence we can't see what effect it does, but we know that it does some effect? It's rather weird. Also, can you elaborate on what difference there is between an Electro-Optic camera and a TV one? Two cameras in Shkval, where did you get that? Besides, TV is an electro optical device. Because the lock mechanization is modeled by cheating instead of modeling edge detection to lock into an image with sufficient contrast, all those image adjustment controls have no effect on locking performance and modeling them would have only cosmetic effect. Color filters are used to help with glare or overexposure. Using filters in low light conditions just reduces the light going into the sensor further reducing image quality. I doubt filters are modeled. Explosions, burning vehicles and other artificial illumination affects locking and I bet that's what helped you get the lock in those rare low light occasions. Besides physics doesn't know about filters that help in low light conditions. You can have coatings on lenses that do help but simply adding such filter in front of any lens system is still going to reduce the light transmission as it doesn't affect the lenses behind, it simply minimizes the light blocking effect of the filter. Sorry guys the Shkval system uses in fact only 1 Camera inside the system. I have been wrong here, the system of the Mig-27K uses two and i did read about that plane 2 month ago. So the Shkval filter setting should be visible in the IT-23 Monitor. Also i noticed over the days that in some missions (i have no idea why this happens) the Laser is really going crazy which makes short after that the Shkval is going crazy. In 1.2 this was much less often. I will do a Video the days with some testing. Ise Edit: Oh and sorry again for my mistake with the Shkval Edited October 22, 2015 by Isegrim "Blyat Naaaaa" - Izlom
SnowTiger Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 I don't know about you folks, but I'd be more than willing to pay an Annual "Maintenance Fee" for continuous maintenance and upkeep, upgrades, fixes and patches etc. I can imagine that it's hard to find incentive to continue to Fix/Repair software issues for Mods that were released years previously. But Mods like BS2 are too much fun for me to see them go down the tubes. DCS/ED I hope you consider this idea (re: Annual Maintenance Fee). Think about it. This might be a viable solution that I'd bet most of us would gladly consider, especially if it was only $5 annually for each Mod that exceeds "X" number of years since its release. OR even a flat $10 (for example) to upgrade ALL of our mods. This could be a good way to ensure everyone is happy ... without DCS going broke in the process. Just a Thought ! That would hopefully also pay for the modular upgrade of existing A/C variants to make them more up-to-date, such as our beloved Su-27, Su-25, and so forth! PC: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X | MSI Suprim GeForce 3090 TI | ASUS Prime X570-P | 128GB DDR4 3600 RAM | 2TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD | Win10 Pro 64bit Gear: HP Reverb G2 | JetPad FSE | VKB Gunfighter Pro Mk.III w/ MCG Ultimate VKBcontrollers.com
King_Hrothgar Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 DCS draws in new players at a fairly decent rate from what I've seen. Just about every time I hop on 104th I find myself training a new Ka-50 pilot. So the continued sales of the older modules should be sufficient incentive to keep them up to date. They don't generate as much revenue as a new module does, but basic upkeep is also a lot less work than building a new module.

rrohde Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 In "Sukhoi Su-25 Frogfoot (Air Vanguard)" by Alexander Mladenov, the Shkval is explained in some detail based on the Su-25T. Not sure if (or how much) it differs from the Ka-50's implementation, but it's definitely a good read.
