Hello. I'm new to this forum and to the DCS World community and I need help. I don't know if this is covered in previous threads but I am having trouble setting up the DCS software.

I downloaded DCS World as per instructions and then tried to load my A-10C software. Nothing happened. The DCS World software will not recognize the A-10C program. It keeps telling me that I have to buy the software to load it. I'm going around in circles. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? The steps I took are as follows:

Loaded DCS World in a separate folder.

Loaded A-10C in same folder

No Joy.

Second step:

Loaded DCS World in a separate folder

Loaded A-10C in a separate folder but same directory

No Joy.

Please, can anyone help?

Thanks,

Sounds Like he's trying to install DCS: A-10C 1.1.1.x into DCS World instead of the A-10C Module?

I guess that means I have to repurchase A-10C in order to download it from the link. How do I download it to the module in DCS World?

You do not have to repurchase. Go to the link provided by SithSpawn and download the executable found there. Run it. It will default to the correct path to install into DCS World. You will not get prompted for the key until you run a mission but the key from your box version will work.

Your disk was produced before DCS World existed (fall of 2011, IIRC).

Went to the link and tried to download the executable, got a screen full of gibberish. It won't download cleanly. Will close down the forum and try again, just in case something is interferring. Do I download it into the DCS World folder or doesn't it matter?

Thanks for the help guys! I really appreciate it.

Download it to someplace outside of the DCS World folder (just for the sake of neatness). Not sure why you got gibberish.

Download all the files to desktop or wherever you store files and run the executable when you're done. Point it to your DCS folder if necessary.

Using FTP Mirror #1 (USA) for the download but still nothing. Just a screen full of gibberish. Note sure what the next step is.

or you can install it through module manager or DCS_Updater, using your current license key.

Somthing is not right here. I am still getting gibberish whenever I try to download. I'm going to shut down and reboot and see if that has any bearing on it.

Again, thank you all for your help. I truly appreciate it. Have a good one.

Still no joy. Shut everything down and rebooted. Tried the link again and got gibberish. Shut down again rebooted, tried going through Module Manager and got a messge box asking for User Name and Password. Don't know where this came from but none work. Now what?

You need to create a user account on the ED website that will link your serial numbers to it. Then you can log in.

Username and Password is the one you use to sign into Multi-player,

Navigate to your DCS Folder, Hold the SHIFT Button and Right Click the /Bin/ Folder, Choose "Open in Command Prompt"

Using DCS_Updater to Install a Specific Module:

In the Command Prompt Window:

Type: DCS_Updater.exe install A-10C

Dialog should pop up and start downloading it.

Ok. Just verifying before I muddy everything up.

I Followed the instructions concerning the /Bin/Folder. The three commands I got where:

"Open in new process"

"Open command window here"

I don't have a "Open in Command Prompt" per say so I am going with the Open command window here choice.

Any advice before I end up multilating this program?

Open in Command Window,

Should Read:

Microsoft Windows <Version Numbers>

Copyright Microsoft etc

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bin\

Type: DCS_Updater.exe install A-10C

Hit Enter

the DCS World Updater will Open and start downloading and installing the A-10C module

When it's complete it should boot DCS World, You may have to manually activate it again.

SkateZilla,

Thanks for the directions. Followed the steps you laid out and finally got DCS World to recoginize my A-10C. However, a major problem has rearred it's ugly head. Every time I try to select a section found in DCS (i.e. Training, Options, ect., the game takes me to my desktop and then goes back to the section I was attempting to select in the first place. It doesn't matter what I select it always takes me out of the game to desktop and then back to the game. I have no idea what's going on and without a manual it's like trying to play darts in the dark. If no one has an idea I will probably have to uninstalled everything and start over. I've already used two "activactions" I guess this will cost me more. Anyway, thanks for the help. I'm open to suggestions. Even if it means buying a new disk.

Thanks again. Dodger

Why on earth would you want to buy a new disk? You already learnt in this thread your disk isn't necessary at all.

Also your activations don't decrease, as there was no reason to deactivate any product so far.

Switching to desktop for a second before entering gameplay is quite normal. But I don't think they explain that in their manual, which by the way can easily be found in your DCS World installation folder.

After all you apparently don't have any experience with downloading and installing games. So better ask some of your buddies at home to visit you and guide you through that.

If this is not an option, simply visit ED's website and open the FAQ-section

There you will find the two topics Downloading and Installation on the left. Click those and read them. Do as the FAQ tell you to.
