Morph-AH- Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Is it possible to take off from a road once you land safely? Forgive me if this is a stupid question... But I had to ask. :icon_hang tyia. morph

Morph-AH- Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 LOL Well, I did try it. Engines go to max but I dont move. Ima newb to lockon so bare with me lol.. Is there a setting or something I'm not seeing?
Sleek Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 to be honest, i don't think i've tried it since 1.02 or what ever the first version was (all that time ago) :) but i'm sure they stopped u taking off from a road a few patches ago..? Be Good..Be Strong..:drink: ;)
Weta43 Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 No settings - if you run off the edge of the road you'll get bogged down/damage your gear (I quite like landing on the roads & it should be straight forward to land & take off though I've noticed a very few places where the texture for the road doesn't quite align with the "solid" bit underneath it). Stay on the actual road & it's just like being on the runway except narrower, bumpy & you can't re-fuel or re-arm Cheers.

But stay away from bridges, you won't make it across. T/O will work as well, but as aid before, no service on a road (fuel, ammo) kind regards, Raven.... nscode Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Here's a real war-time one :): Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
dynamocl Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I got both my engines shot out online the other day by a SAM. No way I could have got my SU25T back home, so I located a decent road near by and glided down on it. Then the problems started. No SAR chopper was sent out for me, and no doubt the enemy would have captured me and stole my plane since I wasn't too far from the targets I had just been attacking. So, yes you can land, but you dont get much benefit from it.
Greenies Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Here's a link to a movie, showing someone trying to take off from the road. It doesn't go that well, I'm afraid :( First there will be some commercial, so wait for it to end, and then the movie clip will start (by the way, this is the homepage of a Norwegian newspaper, if anyone wondered). http://www.vg.no/video/videoplayer/player.hbs?id=2623 I want to get away, I wanna fly away. PaddyTB Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 From What I remember Landing on the bridges near the coast is interesting too. AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Socket 939, Motherboard Abit AV8, Corsair DDR PC3200 - 4 x 512 MB ASUS AX800Pro Flashed to X800 XT, Samsung CD/DVDRW, Seagate 2 x SATA 250G RAID, Creative Soundblaster XFi Xtreme music, Trackir 3 Pro, Saitek X52 Pro, Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit
RvETito Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 You need Black Shark ;) Hey Shepski, I suppose we can land the Ka-50 anywhere on the ground but does that include buildings? That would be quiet funny, I mean parking your helicopter on the roof of your house after a busy day... :D "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. If you don't know you shouldn't be flying." - Chuck Yeager, from the back seat of F-15D at age 89. =RvE=
Alfa Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 Hi Tito, Long time no see mate! :D Well you can of course land the Ka-50 pretty much anywhere where the terrain is reasonably level and there is enough free space around for its rotors. But I think what Shepski was refering to was the bit about "FARP"s, which can selected as static building objects in the editor and placed anywhere on the map in "Black Shark" :) . I must admit I havent tried landing on regular buildings yet.....something to try :) Cheers, - JJ. Hey Shepski, I suppose we can land the Ka-50 anywhere on the ground but does that include buildings? GGTharos Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 It's absolutely possible to land on regular buildings :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Force_Feedback Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 It's absolutely possible to land on regular buildings :) But no take-off? I imagine you may get the "sticky ground" issue when landing on buildings, like you have with the non-afm aircraft when they leave a hard surface. Anyhow, keep on testing the chopper, and be thorough when doing so, I don't care about release dates. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
GGTharos Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 You can take off. You can't rearm/refuel from them AFAIK, but they might make great 'jumping points' in some cases, if you wish to lay in wait. Thanks, I'm all happy and stuff now I know I'll be able to do crazy stuff with that chopper. Heh, and if I screw up, I'll just click between my legs, and BANG, boom, shoosh, shhhhhhhhh.... and then the chute inflates. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 So we need someone to start reskinning one of the big buildings and put a H on the roof..... How small a building can it land on? Oil platform? Top of an electrical pylon? Top of a chimney and hide in the smoke? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....

Oil platform? Top of an electrical pylon? Top of a chimney and hide in the smoke? I think you would get unplayable fps when doing the last. Can we have an easter egg, in which the whole cockpit is filled with smoke, and the controls get a 2 second delay when flying, also the loading screen should show marijuana buds, and a big spliff, to hint the user why his chopper is flying erratic.
