Hi,

I'm having this strange issue that started appearing at version 1.2.8. After while of playing ( around 5 to 10 minutes ) my game freezes. I can hear the sound still playing in the background but the game is dead. Whats even stranger is that I have to restart my computer afterwards because it's freezing. To close the game it takes quite amount of willpower and time because the whole system is freezing. It freezes every 1 sec for at least 20 seconds.

The last time I played DCS World is at version 1.2.7 and the only thing changed is my graphics card and DCS BS2 which I bought today. Anyone experiencing these difficulties?

Either it's a graphics card driver problem or your new card is overheating and rebooting (but your system is staying alive, without video.)

Are you overclocking your graphics card or did you mess with the default fan settings? I found nVidia's new drivers turn off the fans when the card is under a certain temperature, and only engage them after the card is in danger of overheating.

Try cranking up your fan speeds to 50%, 75% or 100% then do another run of the game.

Max temperatures my gpu reaches is 81 degrees and its factory overclocked. I used DDU to uninstall my previous drivers. I don't have any issues in other games and I tested many of them.

Going by the issue, it sounds like the GPU itself is shutting off.

Max Temp for 780ti is 95°C, Max.

So either it is overheating, or your power supply can't feed the card the power it needs.

Check you event viewer for any Yellow/Red Icons as well.

I have an 750Wat power supply which is more than enough to feed the gpu. At first I also thought that my gpu is overheating but I'm using afterburner to check my temp and they are fine.

what's the brand and model?

750w means diddly if it's a split 12v rail system and you have it setup to where one rail is overloaded.

However... Seeing as just the GPU crashing, I'd Look at the GPU itself.

Run Furmark, if it's availible, put the old one back in.

The power supply I have is Corsair Enthusiast Series Modular TX750M 750W - 80+ Bronze.

I've already stress tested the gpu in benchmarks ( also 15minutes of FurMark ) and games and I have no issues with it.

One other question:

How did you upgrade to 128?

I didn't upgrade. I decided I will start using DCS without steam so I downloaded the torrent version of DCS World + all the modules. I deleted the steam version prior doing this.

I'm really at a loss here. My temperatures in FurMark never exceed 83 degrees and since my card is stable everywhere else I doubt its my gpu being defunct.

Maybe the 780 ti version has some issues with this simulator. Also my driver version is 337.88.

Did you delete the saved games / dcs folder as well? I think the steam version still uses that doesn't it?

Any crash logs included in you logs folder in saved games? Maybe posting a dxdiag might help? Dcs.log...

May just be a bad install... They're not so uncommon that it isn't possible.

Do you have a Gigabyte OC guru installed? If so then it might be your source of the problem and after uninstallation it should be fine.

After deleting the DCS folder inside save games the problem seems to be fixed. I need to verify it more but I made it to the end of the BS2 tutorial without the game freezing. Rep to you ENO.

I rather use MSI afterburner :)

Glad you're back in action. Makes me wonder if that was the same saved games folder from Steam... if so that certainly explains the issue since it would have maintained settings from your other card. Inevitably I expect that would have caused trouble.

Either way... for whatever reason it worked so enjoy!

Hello Friends

I am new to DCS, just a few days.

I have download DCS world and FC3 from Steam.

I am able to run the game and start missions/Training etc on High Setting with resolution 1920x1080. However, at variable times the game will freeze then crash. I have tried the lowest Resolutions with the same problem. Also the crash occurs even when the game is paused and I am looking at a menu.

When running MSI burner, i notice the GPU usage monitor shoots to 100% for a shortime before returning to normal after the game has crashed. Temperatures don't exceed 79'Cel. (Windows always sends information to Microsoft to try and solve problem)

When looking in the event viewer, the following is always the reason

Event 19WHEA Logger

A corrected hardware error has occurred.

Nothing is overlocked and everything is a factory settings

I am at a loss here as I can run just about every other game in top settings without as little much as a stutter, Getting a little frustrated as the game seems to be just what I have been looking for ages in a Jet simulation game.

I have also ran Furmark, with out any issues. Also I have reinstalled the game twice aznd run Validate Game cache files.

If anyone is able to provide a way out of this delemma, I would be very much appreciative of your input.

thanks

After a thorough search of this PC I found no reference to the error mentioned.

But did find this. Noting the potential hardware issue.

Hmmmm: d3dx9_43.dll...

Wonder if you reinstalled the DX9 redist if this would go away?

I'm also drawn to the force feedback joystick... while I don't use one it seems to me that there have been problems with using force feedback in the past?

If you turn force feedback off (assuming it's on) in the options- do you still encounter a crash?

Hi Eno

Thanks for the help

I have reinstalled Directx and diabled the forcefeed back = no crash.

Re-enabled the force feedback and Great so far, no crash either as yet

Seems to have solved the problem

Many thanks again

I have the same problem like you after GPU upgrade. I did fresh install of 1.2.8 and delete saved game folder as said in the thread. My freezes happen only after 5-15 minutes and only with FC3 AC. I tried P-51, A-10C, Ka-50 and Mi-8 for 30-60 minutes without any problem.
