JST Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Does anyone have any official docs that the K-4 ever used the Mk 103 gunpods? I cant find anything officalish... You mean 108? They were never used outside experiments on any 109, the K-series had some factory experimental wing gondolas for the 109 as well, but nothing operational. ED Team Yo-Yo Posted December 1, 2014 ED Team Posted December 1, 2014 the question is, does the game itself somehow apply "world sounds" over the engine sounds, or intefer with the engine soundfiles in another way? im just asking because i just listened to the sound files of the fw190 directly...and there i can listen to lots of details which seem to be just missing while beeing ingame.the soundfiles sound way more detailed and "stronger".really curious about that now...cause they sound awesome. It's very common in real life - louder sounds mask frequency bands where weeker sounds lose their detailes. Really, you must not hear all that sounds of cockpits because of engine noise. 9.JG27 DavidRed Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 ^^ah well, im not talking about cockpit sounds like "clicks" of switches or other sounds of levers i.e. or anything else...also for sure as sounds overlap, some details get lost...but those jumo engine soundfiles sound awesome...in the game while i still think that the 190 sounds good, they just sound not as "convincing"..the engine shutdown file is a good example i think...there you can hear lots and lots of little details, which for me at least never are audible in game.

I was talking the Mk 103, but looks like the same goes for the 108, mostly used elsewhere or in testing on the K if at all.... Kurfürst Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) Does anyone have any official docs that the K-4 ever used the Mk 103 gunpods? I cant find anything officalish... Never even seen it planned. Some circuits do seem to mention MK 108 gondolas, but those aren't listed in official rustsatze list either. I suppose they were just compatible installation with 151 pods. Gun armament of the K-4 was always nose MK 108, cowl MG 131 and (optional) MG 151/20 wing pods / or 21 cm rockets, the latter two seem to have been seldom used in practice due to tactical circumstances. AFAIK the K-10 was to have the MK 103mot in the nose in place of the 108. DB 605 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Remember, its beta, that said, when you receive your copy and you still feel its lacking, feel free to start a thread and if possible include any decent links to show the differences you are hearing. Of course, and my comparisons is based two real-life records of flying 109's. I know that real pilot won't hear all details over engine noise and in real life, when sitting in cockpit sounds may be quite different than recorded ones (i've visited numerous air shows, have sit many hours in planes and work with planes as my everyday job). But in that take-off video engine noise/sounds doesen't sound like DB at all... But like you said, let's wait once it's released and even then remember it's still beta and see how it will progress. This is not meant as insult to sounds devs, it's just my honest opinion. sport02 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) I am surprise by the cockpit sound for the dcs 109bf , also for visual vibration of the control panel !! the flyby sound of the 190 is a little curious also . contrary to the su27 sounds which are greats . Rogue Trooper Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 DB605, The start up video is more comparable to your ref video, just before the canopy is closed 2:18. Once the canopy is closed the sound smoothens out considerably. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2244996#post2244996 I guess there may be some volume reduction for the tuition voice over. Your Ref Vid does sound nice and solid though. SlipBall Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) I thought that the slats protrude outwards more, when the aircraft is at rest on the ground...guess I had that wrong Edited December 1, 2014 by GT 5.0
bongodriver Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I thought that the slats protrude outwards more, when the aircraft is at rest on the ground...guess I had that wrong They are completely free floating so could be in either position, they can be pushed in very easily.
MiloMorai Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 One would prefer to have them closed when on the ground.

klem Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Ref sounds, although it's obvious to most of you, what you hear at airshows isn't what you hear in the cockpit (DB605's first video makes that clear) and what you hear inside your pilots headphones (presumably that's what we're being given?) is different again. Any chance of slipping a microphone inside that guy's headphones? :) Yes indeed, and that's pretty much what i said, but while headphones and helmet act as a muffler they won't change the whole engine sound to another. By the way, i would rather hear the pure "in-cockpit engine sound" than "muffled-down helmet sound" in sims.
