leapingrodent Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 So the F86 is the first time I've bought a module that's still in beta and was wondering how often updates are likely to roll out?

ED Team NineLine Posted August 1, 2014 ED Team Posted August 1, 2014 Ugggbbhhhhh. Dont hold your breath. So very helpful arent we.... I'll have to ask if we can expect any fixes to come alone with the Dora release next week. statrekmike Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 So very helpful arent we.... I'll have to ask if we can expect any fixes to come alone with the Dora release next week. I hope they do, the Sabre is a fantastic module but it seems to be missing some pretty important stuff (drop tanks...) that prevent it from really being as useful as it could be in missions. Hopefully we get some sort of update soon, even if it is just for the more glaring issues.
Skulleader Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 In Open Beta I possess the Huey and the Mi-8 and now the F86 but it's not a problem, each time that one patch is release it's like a fest. Just wait and see, Just the Huey is not more OpenBeta... fjacobsen Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 At least I cross my fingers that updates and progress will be faster than we have seen with the Huey and Mi-8. Otherwise I most probably will stick with these 3 Belsim addons until they can be regarded as release versions. FinnJ | i7-10700K 3.8-5.1Ghz | 64GB RAM | RTX 4070 12GB | 1x1TB M.2. Timm Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 (edited) I just hope that someone at Belsim are taken notes on what we are finding, because I just wish I had waited a bit longer instead of jumping in and getting, because If I read these posts prior to buying I would have stayed clear for a while. NeilWillis Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 That's one outlook. Another would be to be positive, and add to the community by finding, and reporting the bugs and omissions. Of course Belsimtek are taking notes. That's what a Beta release is all about. Bear in mind that software hoses rely on an income stream to make it possible to retain and pay their staff. Stop buying, and they lose their income stream, then we lose our new aircraft. Buy their stuff as soon as it's released, and they'll be able to perfect it, even if it does take a while. Make sense?

Not too much different as in real life, but a whole less money spent. Bell or whoever builds a prototype, tests every component before flying it. Tests it. Re-tests it. Makes changes on the prototype. Tests it. Then they build a second improved prototype. Lessons learned. Other technology develops as support to the original aircraft idea. May use the aircraft for a future production version, may not. Lessons learned can be used on a future aircraft not even thought of at the time. The Northrop flying wing was originally taken out of production because of uncontrollable yaw. Computer technology improves, they build the B-2 bomber. There is probably a lot more to it than that. The learning curve through consumer experimentation and sharing of ideas in DCS betas is similar. Sometimes things conceived in the early betas are not used later. Guys think up workarounds to solve issues. The forums and youtube videos are great think tanks. Still fun to play with. I am not sorry I bought mine. I was sure somebody was going to say, "Two weeks!" as answer to the top of thread original question. Edited August 2, 2014 by DieHard [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Soulres Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 (edited) So the F86 is the first time I've bought a module that's still in beta and was wondering how often updates are likely to roll out? hotfixes probably every 18 days full blown patches would probably take a month or 2. While bugs will get fixed eventully, unless something is game breaking there is no Urgency,I mean after all you did already buy it. :pilotfly: Use the points you earned (10$) to try other things like the F15E,Su25T,Flamming Cliffs 3 (which comes with like 9 aircraft), P51D and the two helicopter's, Edited August 2, 2014 by Soulres

Well said.... I bought both the Mi8, Huey and now the Sabre from Belsimtek as beta releases and have absolutely no regrets I did so. They do listen to our comments, but updates on dcs are generally bundled together so we will get updates for several modules from different software houses at the same time. Belsimtek may already have some fixes for us but they have to wait until dcs roll out an update to have theirs included in it, make sense? Also as far as Belsimtek and their products go, if they wanted to make a new addition but didn't have the funds available to do so and asked the community to pay for it up front, I would without any hesitation. That's how much confidence I've got in them for producing quality products. The Sabre is a beta release and we are finding a few faults with it, only to be expected with something new. Don't worry too much, they will fix the issues. Meanwhile enjoy the Sabre....personally I'm having a ball with it. A really fantastic piece of work, and way up there with my other all time fav.....the Huey. Well done Belsimtek....
