ericoh Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) love it, that's why i'm still running a 486 with x-tree pro Knew it! On a serious note, it is realy frustrating that my computer can run any game out there fine, just cant seem to get over 30 fps in DCS. Allready turned everything to low. Realy hope this gets adressed. Edited August 8, 2014 by ericoh
chaos Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Ericoh, You come across as a troll. There are no hifi combat flight simulations that run faster than 60fps. There is a good reason why DCS is not running at a consistent 60fps. I'm sure you know why. You're not dumb, are you? 1 "It's not the years, honey. It's the mileage..."

Explain me the good reason why DCS does not run at 60fps! I guess im dumb.
Rykane Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 you may as well go back to fsx if your not happy with the product or go and waste your time with x-plane. For every customer who gripes about graphics or tanks on bridges and has a rant, 3 new ED customers are born. You and many like yourself need to go play yeagers air combat for another 5 or so years then come back to DCS. Maybe you will then be satisfied. Let's be serious here, even in it's current form, DCS is better than anything the Janes series ever produced I'm not sure where you are getting those ideas from? I've been playing DCS/Lock On for years, I'm just saying that the performance has always been unoptimised and it needs to be fixed. I still love DCS but if it doesn't get fixed with EDGE then I don't have any hope for it being fixed at all.
outlawal2 Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 As much as I'd like to fly the Dora or Saber, Im not buying any new modules until EDGE is released. As I have no idea how it will run on my PC there's no point in spending money on aircraft that I might not be able to fly in it. Even now the latest versions of DCS don't give good frames for me, so it's on the back burner until the major changes come. I guess I am not following the logic on this one... If you are flying modules in DCS now and are enjoying it.. (And I assume you are) then why would you not order the sabre and Dora and enjoy them now? EDGE has nothing to do with anything at this point. If when EDGE gets here you CAN'T run EDGE for whatever reason, you can still keep your install at the current version and continue to fly the planes you already have... You aren't going to uninstall the whole sim if EDGE runs crappy on your machine are you? "Pride is a poor substitute for intelligence." RAMBO

And find the old version server wich not run EDGE and play with few friends with similar problems or play alone with "pleasure" in single player - in that logic. I love this sim too but what's the point if I'm going to play alone? After the horse ride the mule, approximately. I hope it will not happen so. Quote Немој ништа силом, узми већи чекић! Slazi Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Funny thing, you imagine the cpu to be the bottleneck in a high fi sim, but in dcs, its all gpu. Edge should bring some great performance gains. Opening up multicore cpu suppport will be great once the gpus are running to their full potential.
SkateZilla Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 If you limit an Application to 1 thread for everything (except audio), DirectX9 has crazy CPU Overhead for High Object count scenes. therefore CPU is part of the bottleneck. A Graphics card can only render as fast a it gets the instructions. DX11 should remove most of the CPU Overhead. naizarak Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 if you guys are on the fence between upgrading to AMD/nvidia, just do yourselves a favor and get nvidia. the hardware is comparable(in raw performance), but nvidia has traditionally provided better software support and more mature drivers i can say from personal experience that AMD is leaps and bounds behind nvidia in that department
SkateZilla Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I have products for both camps, and they both have issues. Was there ever a word on multi core support with EDGE?
SkateZilla Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Thats interesting and good to know. Was there ever a word on multi core support with EDGE? Multiple GPU Support Yes (CrossFire/SLi), Multi-CPU Thread Support No. DX11 Manages it's own resources separately, Object Calls and Command Lists for DX can be Multi-threaded. However this is not Multi-Threading for the entire DCS Game, Just DirectX11's Tasks, Whether or not the feature is integrated in EDGE I cannot say. Of course when Edge comes out hopefully all my sadness will disipate at actually being able to play the game.
