Has anybody heard from Rich (Komodosim)?

He's uncharacteristically not responding to emails and no activity on Facebook.

Hi,

Have an open order with Rich for the Huey controls (3x).

Ordered it in April this year, was assigned a slot for August (this month).

E-mailed him last two weeks ago, received a reply last week. He said he was really busy and getting on top of things again now.

I am betting he is pretty busy as his site was down for some time and now I just checkked and it is up and running but totally different than before. Looks to be spending time updating his site at the moment..

Yup, Rich has been on a well earned vacation. He's back though. Unfortunately for me, my order is queued up!! So if you're even *thinking* about it, you had better order one. I won't see mine until January (although Rich is trying to ramp up parts of his assembly. I wish him the best of luck!

Some really sweet controllers you purchased there.

Komodos cyclic is truly supreme.

Out of interest are you only interested in the Huey?

HP G2 Reverb (Needs upgrading), Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate. set to OpenXR, but Open XR tool kit disabled.

DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), DLSS setting is quality at 1.0. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC... Everything needs upgrading in this system!.

Vaicom user and what a superb freebie it is! Virpil Mongoose T50M3 base & Mongoose CM2 Grip (not set for dead stick), Virpil TCS collective with counterbalance kit (woof woof). Very nice indeed, hoping my uh1 collective isn't that far away now. Didn't get the cyclic as I've got a floor mounted warthog, and still fly fixed wing from time to time, but the collective is a must have.

Any chance of a vid of it in action when u get a chance?

Aside from a track of a flight in F1 cockpit mode, not sure how to do this in a way that would be meaningfully demonstrative of the controllers.

Quick question, have you managed to get the throttle to work at startup?

My throttle only seems to be recognised after I've open and closed throttle using page up and down.

So can't use it for full start at mo :(

The twist throttle axis is only recognized "above" the detent. You need to PAGE UP past the detent to get throttle working. Once above the detent, PAGE DOWN will bring you to the detent but not below it.

IRL the Huey is fired up with the throttle set just under the detent point to allow for unencumbered shutdown in event of hot start. I find PAGE UP during startup to be counter immersive so I keep throttle just above

the detent. Doesn't seem to result in hot start.

The Komodosim collective with its twist throttle and starter button make startups a joy.

Cowboy; there is a way to fake the opening/closing of the throttle. Obviously not like IRL, but it gets the job done. The following process is easy for someone using a 'Warthog' as a cyclic since it has so many buttons, but it will work with other joysticks as well.

On the 'Warthog' (your cyclic) use one of the buttons as a 'modifier' button, I use the pinky paddle button as a modifier.

On the collective, program the 'Spotlight Ext' button (using the modifier button on the Warthog) to 'Pageup'; and program the 'Spotlight Ret' button (using the modifier button) to 'PageDown'.

As I said this process isn't real life, however it does allow you to open/close the throttle without taking your hands off the controls to press a key on the keyboard.

Hope this helps

My workaround is via voice activation (Voice Attack).

I just say "link throttle" and my my throttle jumps to the position just above the detent. I can then use the twist throttle to spool her up during start up.

I can also map controller buttons to Voice Attack. When I press the Detent button on the collective, the throttle jumps down just below the detent point where you want it to initiate the startup procedure.
