Weta43 Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 In the tech & main forums there are a couple of threads about this already - I'd look for you but my 56k running at 47k modem puts me off. Cheers.
Kindred Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 The technology behind this hardware is very impressive. But I must admit, max res 800x600 is kind of downer for me. At least with its price tab, wished they could at least put min to 1024x768… If they did, I would re consider purchasing it. But this max res with this price tag, it’s a turn off. But I would like to try it that’s for sure.
SUBS17 Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Thats the difference between $1000 US and $9000US, you can get higher res VR but with it is a much higher cost. Hopefully someone like naturalpoint might one day look into doing a 1024x768 or higher and with a lower cost and mass production would make a very good profit. Considering that xbox 360 and PS3 could also use such devices then it would sell quite well. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
Jester_159th Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Give it time. Like all electronic products, if the market exists they'll get better and cheaper in a couple of years.

Relatively affordable 800x600 HDMs are available there for a long time. I am already waiting about eight years for better resolution ... not sure why it is taking "them" so long ...

eric37a Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 I think we haven't seen a lot better is because they probably don't sell many of them. The companies don't want to risk making one with better resolution that costs another 500 dollars or so (complete ballpark figure) just to sell less of them. So, they keep putting these lower res ones out thinking that this magical time if they sell a lot, then they can make a higher res one. They just keep testing the market, and keep getting the same result. They don't get that bumping up the resolution would cause them to be far more successful than they think. And so they don't take the risk. I don't know if I'm really making sense here, but this is my brain at work.

Yep, I`ve been waiting for a long time for somebody to give Keiser Elecro- optics "SimEye" some serious competition and bring`em down from their high horse and I don`t think it`s gonna happen anytime soon :(
