Hi guys,

I noticed that when I start advancing the throttle at the same time some right rudder is being applied as if the throttle is also bound to the rudder axis. I have checked and double checked if this is the case but the throttle and rudder both have their own separate axis. I also made sure the auto rudder and take off assistance are both unchecked.

Any thought about this behaviour?

Thanks,

Razorback

Go to general game OPTIONS / SPECIAL ( under the Dora Tab ) and make sure takeoff assist is set at 0%. By default it is set at 100%, and the aircraft virtual "Stability Augmentation System" artificially inputs rudder to assist your takeoff run.

There is also an option there for automated rudder, so make sure that check box is cleared too.

Hrm? He said already "I also made sure the auto rudder and take off assistance are both unchecked." ?

Could be that trim is becoming effective as the slipstream from the prop hits the rudder.

The rudder is trimmed (for cruise speed at 2200-2400 rpm, I think they said) on the ground. That's what you probably see.

"Currently in DCS the rudder is balanced for cruise at 2200-2400 rpm, though the required rudder input is small for the higher power ratings and corresponding speeds."

Hi,

I had the same problem at my first try with the Dora. I resolved it by reassigning all the axis again. When you open the options menu the first time for the Dora the axis are already assigned, but clear all the fields and start again. Be sure that no axis is double assigned (i.e. aileron axis is maybe also assigned to your rudder at the beginning).:smilewink:

I am sure that's the explanation. The rudder ground adjustable trim tab is slightly bent so to deflect rudder slightly to the right. As soon as there is enough propeller slipstream, it will deflect rudder, even if the plane is stationary.

Also on the Mustang - if you trim rudder and elevator, then hold brakes and advance the throttle, watch the plane from outside - both tail control surfaces will deflect forced by air pushed by propeller.

well, i just found out, that when i'm flying my own mission, and have rudderhelp checked / 100%, the assistance works as intended.

on the other hand, i have been flying on the VA server, and noticed, that the server seems to force me to fly without having autorudder, although i have it checked on my client.

this does not happen however with the mustang (last test in 1.2.9)

this server has DCS:World core install, so no modules installed.

has anyone noticed this behaviour as well and therefore can confirm this behaviour?

RR

Server can override client settings for realism purposes. Same with labels on/off etc... Think most of them have it turned off.

since when?that has not been the case earlier...is it confirmed that servers now have influence on whether autorudder is allowed or not?

well, ive just checked in the ME mission settings, and nothing about auto rudder there...if its indeed already implemented, then a entry in the patch-changelog would have been more than welcome...also how to make sure it is en-/disabled for clients?

Its possible it hasnt been pushed live, or I am thinking of something different...

Might have been Gaming Mode I was thinking of but could swear it was the rudder assistance.

ok thats surprising for a non ED tester, as nothing was mentioned in any change log since then, and for us at least the DoW group, thats a biggy, we are waiting for quite some while.would have expected to get some notification...anyways, we will try to see whether it is implemented, and if we can control it for our clients...will report back!

I want to say USSR_Rik commented on the fix somewhere publicly, but you are right, it didnt make it in the patch notes... but that isnt uncommon, I think they are hard to collect some times, and things get missed.

Sorry for quoting so big pictures but i was thinking that when you are in flight and rudder is a bit off it means the ground trim for cruise RPM. Yo-Yo said that rudder is currently set for cruising to 2200 - 2400 RPM. Because there is no rudder trim, then in WWII ground crew changed the trim of the rudder by the tables they had for specfing crusing speeds.

This is just my oponion so it may be completely off.

I think you guys are right saying this behaviour comes from the fixed trim tap. Quit awesome if you think about it. DCS really shines with fine details like this.

All my axis are correct and all the auto stuff is switched off.

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

DCS/ED, you rule!
