DackSter94 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 So I am trying to shoot down the NPC mig-15 with sabre and I can't. Mig is faster. I can outmaneuver it easily but when I do it starts going up and up till i stall. How can i defeat aircraft that is faster? This is also valid for all situations when there is a faster aircraft not only for F-86 and Mig-15 LOOK MA, NO HOOK

Flagrum Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 The Sabre needs more fart to keep up with the 15.... "Afterburner"?
159th_Viper Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 "Afterburner"? That would be the default beans loadout coupled with the zippo field-mod. Altitude gives you speed over the bandit...... a similar maneuver..... http://youtu.be/H8QKa8nYBQw Also for the Sabre watch for performance corner speeds.... handing over speed for maximum turn radius ......Use "Google" for more info there's heaps of good material. SUBS17 Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 If they climb and can out climb you one tactic is to just turn and remain level then when they dive again follow them. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
Der_Fred Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 There's a Korea combat report, where it's stated that if you sustain a 5G spiral dive, the Mig-15 cannot follow you. I'm not sure of the exact reasons, read it a long time ago, but this stuck in my mind like glue. :-)

WildBillKelsoe Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 watch the 'moustache' fella ACM video again and again and again.... oh, and po-lice that moustache!!! AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
WRAITH Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 (edited) ACM - Wingman Formation Tactical Advantage First usefull answer :D Thanks! Hi no problem! I think "Air Combat Mutual Support" - is what you are better off with, its about survivability. Always fly with a wing man co-ordinate a threat offensive and defensive A.C.M Tactics and Strategies that win the fight. Examples:- If your flying lead element in wedge formation and Winman is offset 45° to each other at say 15NM distance behind then this gives you an advantage to box in and room to move as you both close in on bandit and begin to formulate a strategy as you are also gaining altitude by climbing. Although to repeat again first study the jets performance envelope rate of turn, top speed.... etc ...once you know the jet then you know its limitations and fly at optimum performance maneuvers to win the fight. Also never be afraid to "Turn n Burn" and fight another day! :smilewink: There are other advanced tactics one could use, but risk is greater and they are normally a once opportunity, if you get it done right you win if you overshoot or incorrectly apply wrong angles etc you quickly find your opponent is on your six and back in the defensive or worse. This will become more obvious when you study the above on knowing each air craft you fly first, I guess start here first.................. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_F-86_Sabre Study areas like Thrust to Weight Ratio, Handling, Design Attributes, Limitations and Benefits so forth. This is all a lot of fun if you apply the study .... "Theory & Practical" application! Enjoy! Edit:- All this info and pics are found either at combatace or SimHQ lots of goodies there for anyone willing to learn. Cheers, Edited August 22, 2014 by WRAITH
