I looked at it the other day. It seems pretty well done though I did think that some of the reward tiers were a bit expensive ($80 for the PDF plans).

There was a guy on here a few years ago who was making carboard pits, his boss let him use the laser and cardboard at weekends. He got a bit of a brush-off IIRC that it was cardboard and then he stopped posting, assumed he lost his job or the laser cardboard combination came a cropper.

Nice idea, but I will end up spilling beer on it or falling out of it.

. We've invested all we can in advertising, construction and hardware, and we need help to go further and to be sure of the viability of our product.
I'm not sure I understand this, they need funds to be sure of viability? What does this mean?

I know cardboard can be sturdy material (laminated and glued), but this construction didn't really impress me. I can't justify the pricepoint either.

I am guessing viability of a market. If someone wanted to sell me something made from cardboard and they were not sure of the viability of the product I would not be buying :)

I did make my first pit out of cardboard, but only to test the dimensions.

Looks like he would be better investing in a laser that can cut this out of a sturdier material, then design it with fewer parts so its cheaper and lighter.

I like the idea of massive decals to cover the external.
