doveman Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I first encountered this problem doing the "CCIP Mode, Unguided Bombing" training mission for the SU-25T but assumed I'd just done something wrong, as I was a bit confused about exactly what the reticle was showing me and what I was supposed to do. However, I've had the same problem doing the "Shkval Directed Weapons" training, where it's much simpler. As per the instructions, I lock up the target, turn on the laser, fly towards the target keeping the reticle aligned, wait for the LA to appear to signal Launch Authorisation and press and hold Space and...nothing, until I crash into the target (well I had to destroy it somehow!). I've checked the Controls and it definitely shows Space is mapped to Fire. The missiles have something like an 8KM range, so I think the LA appears when I hit that but as I say, nothing happens until I crash into, or fly over, the target. Gloom Demon Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Just hold the fire button for second and the weapon will fire. This is not a bug - it is the way it works IRL :-) AMD Ryzen 3600, Biostar Racing B850GT3, AMD Rx 580 8Gb, 16384 DDR4 2900, Hitachi 7K3000 2Tb, Samsung SM961 256Gb SSD, Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X, Samsung S24F350 24'
doveman Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 I'm holding it from the time LA comes up until I overfly the target and it's not firing. I'm holding the Space bar just to eliminate any potential problems with my joystick which has Space mapped to one of the buttons. It works sometimes though, on one training mission I lined up the target as instructed whilst it was paused and after unpausing I managed to fire a KH-29T. On that mission I didn't manage to line up a second target but on a different training mission I did several times but as I recall, again it fired on the first target after pausing but not on subsequent targets I lined up. I'm using TacView but unfortunately it didn't capture this last mission properly. I'm not sure that would help much anyway, as it doesn't show if I'm pressing Fire, only when weapons are actually released. doveman Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 (edited) Will do. Thanks. EDIT: Seems I can't. If I press ESC and quit the mission, it just goes straight back to the Training Mission selection screen. I flew the "Kh-29T and KAB-500kr" mission first and was able to fire both of those weapons. Then I tried the "Kh-29L, Kh-25ML and S-25L" mission, which starts with the Kh-25ML and I was unable to fire that, on two passes locked to two different targets, holding Space once LA appeared. I've attached the Tacviews for both anyway, as it's all I've got in the absence of being able to save the track. Try not to laugh too much at how many passes it took me to locate and lock the second target with the KAB-500kr in the first mission :blush:Tacview.zip Edited September 12, 2014 by doveman Main rig: i5-4670k @4.4Ghz, Asus Z97-A, Scythe Kotetsu HSF, 32GB Kingston Savage 2400Mhz DDR3, 1070ti, Win 10 x64, Samsung Evo 256GB SSD (OS & Data), OCZ 480GB SSD (Games), WD 2TB and WD 3TB HDDs, 1920x1200 Dell U2412M, 1920x1080 Dell P2314T touchscreen
doveman Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 Just thought I'd better bump this, as you probably won't get notified that I edited my last post. doveman Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 I've done a full uninstall/reinstall of DCS (for other reasons) and tested with no mods and it still doesn't work. I can fire the 29L and 25ML in a non-training mission I tried, so perhaps someone could check this, as it seems the training mission is bugged and that's not a good introduction to DCS. escaner Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 In a few of the Su-25T training missions, Space won't launch the weapons. Instead of mapping the fire button in your controller to Space, map in the game the joystick button to the Fire action. That solved the problem for me. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
doveman Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 In a few of the Su-25T training missions, Space won't launch the weapons. Instead of mapping the fire button in your controller to Space, map in the game the joystick button to the Fire action. That solved the problem for me. Thanks for the tip. I can't really do that though as I'm using Xpadder so that I can shift the buttons and double them up and if I map Fire to a button in DCS then I can't use the shift state to use it for something else as well, which I need to do as there's not many buttons on my Sidewinder FFB2. escaner Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Then try mapping the Fire action to another key combo on both game and joystick. The problem only happens in training missions, probably because of that "Press space to continue". [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
doveman Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 OK, I'll try mapping fire to y instead of space. I did think about that "space to continue" being the cause of the bug. doveman Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 Yeah, it works fine with Fire mapped to Y. BIGNEWY, could you report this bug please, as it's not a great introduction to DCS to find the training missions can't be played with the default keymapping ;) Main rig: i5-4670k @4.4Ghz, Asus Z97-A, Scythe Kotetsu HSF, 32GB Kingston Savage 2400Mhz DDR3, 1070ti, Win 10 x64, Samsung Evo 256GB SSD (OS & Data), OCZ 480GB SSD (Games), WD 2TB and WD 3TB HDDs, 1920x1200 Dell U2412M, 1920x1080 Dell P2314T touchscreen
Marikc0 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I've had the same issue. I've followed a dozen videos and guides/SU25T manual. Randomly weapons (rockets/bombs) will just utterly refuse to fire whether you hold down the button or not, with LA, with the laser on, with the TV locked, etc etc. I'm also 90% of the time unable to get the TV to ground lock at any range. There seem to be some pretty serious bugs with the SU25T and the weapons/TV.
5EVC Tiger Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I have the same issue. KMGU training mission does not allow me to fire weapon. No matter what suggestions made on this post. kontiuka Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I have the same issue. KMGU training mission does not allow me to fire weapon. No matter what suggestions made on this post.I just tried the training mission and was able to drop the bomblets. So, you're in air-to-ground mode and you see the bomb pipper and you have launch authorization? EDIT: And your speed is between 700 and 750 kph?
skendzie Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 This is very clearly a bug that should be reported (if it hasn't) because I can fire weapons no problem in any other situation other than these training missions. It was very frustrating before I just gave up firing the actual weapons and concentrated on the systems.
ander35 Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 For me this was solved by holding the fire button, not just tapping it.
