New version of the mission is live

normandy.thumb.png.e21034af5435c133cbc053d1c02b3406.png

The main feature is that now you can check Mission status via your radio menu:

Radio Menu - F10 Other.. - F1. Mission Status

What's next?

Improve current objectives by additional units and balance them by points sums

B17s!

AAA once corresponding WWII units are added to assets pack (i hope it'll be soon).

More objectives

and more.

See you at Burning Skies :)

very nice update and i like that the f10 map isnt there to use! can u adjust the kneeboard pages and maybe mark airfields and target areas? some pages on the kneeboard dont cover the area of operation or are too far out if u ask me.

thx for your work!

Currently working on better looking ground targets. Want to make them look realistic and observable, not just dropping a unit here and there.

But takes some time and pixel hunting. Will update a mission with better targets in a day or two.

Any chance for a cloud or two, or any other kind of weather? Also you've mentioned that there should be different conditions at different times of day, but for me that never changes. I've never seen early morning or late evening conditions on the map.

Can anyone tell me what the SH-F10 vis mod does in this server? Normally I can look for a distant dot and try SH-F10 to see if it makes it darker or adds an icon etc. but in this game I cannot see what effect it is having. Does it do something subtle at closer range?

#eekz: in the Normandy 1944 mission you indicate an allied position at "West of Port de la Hoderie". As it's very difficult to spot ground units in the bocages even with the F-10 map available, I tried to get a better idea of the target area looking for "Port de la Hoderie". Well, this location simply doesn't exist and never existed. However, I got a hit under "Pont de la Hoderie" (pont = bridge) which makes much more sense in this area than a port. However there is no town or village with this name. The bridge named "Pont de la Hoderie" is located at the village Airel and bridges the Elle river. Also the target location is not West of the bridge. The tanks I saw are right next to it. I would suggest you change the designation to "Airel"; or if you want to stick with the bridge, "Pont de la Hoderie".

PS: The US 117th and 119th infantry divisions took Airel on July 6th, and in the evening took positions to attack Saint Fromond on the West bank on the river, which was facilitated by the fact that the bridge took little damage from bombardments and could be used.

eekz what is the probability we are gonna get to use some airfields in the uk

High. I wan't to make such a mission too. But i've recently read many complaints about that's it's hard to find dogfight event if many people are online event with current airfield setup, so i'm not sure if people will like to flight over the sea navigating by compass looking for enemy. That's why no rush here. But, anyway, I want to make an event between England and France and see how it feels. I think that I'll announce one soon.

I think in the in a Spit that once you made it across the channel and do some dog fighting you wouldn't make it back across. Hopefully will gets some drop tanks soon.

FYI...I was on tonight and it was only 4 blues on and I was getting text message that the enemy was in the trigger zones that I was in...Kinda like I was triggering condition for trigger for the red side.

Of all the maps I have been playing on recently, this one is the one that needs Simple Radio the most. With people constantly spawning at both ends of Biniville then trying to take off in opposite directions on the single runway it would be much better if we could simply select the tower on channel 1 and let people know we are lining up to take off N or S. Same goes for trying to land when people are constantly taking off in both directions without checking if anyone is on finals. After that we just select Channel 2 for the mission comms or another channel for squad comms.

Any chance of adding Simple Radio Standalone? From what I have seen, it is very easy to set up a server and I think it runs on the same PC as the IP for the radio is always the same as the game servers IP.

Now if only I knew how to configure the radio to use it properly ;) It took me like a week to figure out how to use Simple Radio on the Blueflag servers, with the Mirage :)

Just joking, is this still the teamspeak sever in use currently: burningskies.voice-server.ru?

flak

i would highly suggest to add flak to the axis airfield, like the allies do have. getting killed again and again during startup isn't that funny

I agree. Some blue players seem to hover over the axis airfield waiting for someone to show up,and they can do that with total impunity since there is no flak at all. That's no fun at all.

The problem that WWII flak units are not in the game yet, and nor Third Reich coalition neither

any Axis country have any AAA units. I'll try to hack the mission and add temporary add Germany just to have some modern AAA until WWII units come. There was a mod somewhere on the forum which allow you to do so via UI..

Hi eekz,

is it possible to make a automatic frindly fire kick from the server?

It is not funny to get shot down from own forces over and over again, only because some ....... dont whant to learn ID. And even new player of this or other flight sims can easy learn ID. We all had to learn this lesson, but as the numbers of the old generation simflyer go lower and the new generation warthunder pilots come over it is important to have something like this.

Maby than they will learn first ID than shoot.

In the moment i give the order to my squadmambers, that if some one of them get teamkilled the other guys have the permission to shot the frindly ....... down. Not the perfect solution but its better than do nothing.

Sorry but i am a little bit pissed, happent to often in the last time to my squadmambers and me.
