Adjusting the Fw190 aileron trim tab...

I am about to get the Dora later today and before even trying without I will change this value ;)

 

Looking forward to fly one of my favourite WWII planes, the Dora and the Jug.

Let more people try it... if they are happy with it we can change it.

 

I hope that in future all this Mech settings become available in the Ground-crew panel, maybe along with bombs delay settings or rocket/guns convergences. :smilewink:

Does anyone know what setting historically might have been used?

 

I guess they'd get a protractor and a rubber mallet and hammer the thing into place as I've seen talked about on spitfires.

Are you simply changing the default value in FMOptions.lua

In which case can it be made an Options... Controls... Trim-Tab value? Many guys won't be comfortable with finding and editing the file.

 

Or better still could it be done in-game? For example, could it be a keyboard value only settable on the ground? e.g. Shift+Ctrl+Alt+[0....9]. Zero setting value = 4 or 5. No need for model animation.

Can we please have this on the Spitfire Ailerons? And any other 'Ground Crew' trims in future?

that would be hard, Because the trim its a bendable tab (bendable as with the hand) so theres no exact marking on the tab.

Well it was physically measurable by the ground crew against some kind of reference, e.g. perhaps the under-surface of the wing, and they may well have adjusted it by experience, trial and error to some degree. Yo-Yo could set it at what he believes to be a median and adjustments around that made in the cockpit but only on the ground, within a sensible range. Doesn't need an in-cockpit control, just key settings and doesn't need to be animated.

I remember an addon for FSX i thing it was the Diamind DA-20 or soemthing that have a Bendable Tab.

 

It show a pop up window with a draw of the bendale tab and you could move it up and down dragging your mouse.

 

people went crazy because they didnt have exact marking for it hahaha, they requested to have some kind of angle marking on it but the developer just said.. thats the way it is in real life.

 

I think being able to edit the LUA file is more than enough to change the tab.

 

and they should focus on more priority features

So would someone kindly clue me in as I enjoy the Dora but cannot figure out the trim. Yes I know the elevator is the only trim and I have that but some yaw and roll would be nice.

I'm assuming there was some sort of ground adjustment or offset.

 

If not an inflight mod (I dont think there should be if it wasn't really available) perhaps one like the 109 has in the settings page that would allow for aileron trim would be fair?

I was the author of the OP, and made the first change, which became incorporated in a letter update of the aircraft module, so, at least for me there was no need to tweak it further. As it is right now it is using the value I chose and suggested in that original post.

 

I would like to be able to do the same with the 3 trim tabs in the 109, but only two can be adjusted presently ( rudder and aileron ).
