What is going to be in 1.2 for A2A junkies?

ED, has the feature list for 1.2 been decided? Now that WAFM is no more, what is going to be included to be included for people who primarily do A2A?

List is not definitive. ED already said that there will be new features added to it in patches excluding any list of fixes yet to be adressed/found.

And, for the A2A fans flying the su-25t, I guess the proximity fuse on the Vikhr will be working, so you can do some limited A2A pwning.

 

Oh, the AI will be improved, and hopefully ED will finally add the R-77 on the outer pylons of the mig-29S.

By A2A I wasn't really meaning v's a helicopter ... I was thinking more along the lines of F-15 v Mig/Su ... BVR/WVR (As I'm sure you know ...)

The feature set must be faily solid by now ... but I guess things that don't get the bugs worked out will get dropped.

 

WAFM getting dropped is a great shame ... A2A really needs it!

OTOH, BS will -at least- be a great demonstration of what future ED products can bring, and believe you me ... that chopper's a lot of fun, too!

I appreciate that BS is focusing on ground attack ... but there are a load of loyal supporters of this sim who play primarily A2A. And we all know that BVR has some major bugs that need ironing out ... Plus some of that fancy AFM for fighters - so what is ED saying to us? Sorry guys, we haven't the time?

MEANING: If they have the Ka-50 ready for release and time left, they will work on other things.

 

If not, they will seek to correct other things in a patch.

Yea I totally agree with Kula, I mean we just had a poll about who would pay for afm for the original flyables and the vote was like 147 to 8. I will buy BS eventually, but the fact that it doesn’t do anything to my precious flanker or eagle will make me hesitate for a while. ED decided to go for the ka-50 because of some similarities to the Su-25T and they thought it would boost sales. Well, half the western buyers probably never even heard of the ka-50 since it’s a rare bird. I say they should have improved the original planes first since at least some of the work is already done and it would boost sales. That’s just my 2 cents, now I’m going to get flamed.

GGT, I appreciate your diplomacy in the situation ... but BVR needs major work to get it working right ... and that time isn't going to be found with ED under pressure to get BS stable and out the door ...

It's always amusing how everyone is so focused on their own little desires. Even better, the 'loyal customer' line quickly runs in as if it necessitates the inclusion of your personal desire. Try to keep the big picture in mind, guys. I mean, does it REALLY matter whether a new Su-27 3D model is introduced? Sure, it'd be nice, but how critical is it? Speedtree, on the other hand, is a much more relevant question. But hey, ED is working on it and wants it in there no less than we do, but if it doesn't work out in the release, it doesn't work out in the release. Why beg for it?! Air to air fixes? Well, what parts of the add-on are YOU willing to give up in order to include some Air to Air fixes? Maybe they should drop plans on expanding the navigation environment and certain helicopter-related AI routines so that the programmers can work on Air to Air? And this is in an attack-helicopter add-on...

 

Anyway, time will tell how wise this add-on was. My only point was... big picture guys.

As a customer, I'm entitled to my opinion and as a supplier I would hope ED would appreciate the feedback.

 

Since you ask Evil, as far as I'm concerned you can ditch the helicopter in order to fix BVR, fighters (AFM) and missiles (WAFM) ... A2A combat where missile and radar don't work properly is ... just arcade. Sorry.

No problem, I don't mean to derade your opinion at all. Only pointing out that the customer "move" has gotten a little overused IMHO. To be perfectly blunt, we're all customers, we all paid for Lock On, and we all GOT Lock On. Anything past that is support the company does not owe us. But anyway, my own opinion is that ED should do everything they can to make this chopper as good as it can be, seeing as we will be asked to pay for it and all. Everything else is a bonus. If they can address certain air to air features, that's great. But if not, that's what the next project is for. As they say, a time and place for everything in space...
