From this video Matt did you can see the outer frame of the canopy is made of wood:

but for some reason my cockpit has this replaced with metal:

Not that I am complaining...I kinda prefer it without the wood but I check with some other guys in the 229th and they are running the same version I am but they have wood. I am not running any mods at all so that is not it. Does anyone know what is going on?

it changed with the update I don't know if you can remove it or not without some file configuring.

One day in DCS... Vipers will fly along side Tomcats... Bugs with Superbugs, Tiffy's with Tornado's, Fulcrums with Flankers and Mirage with Rafales...

:)The Future of DCS is a bright one:)

Somewhere here is a thread that explains that the wood frame was not realistic. Someone found out that the wood frame was only used in a restorated museum Dora, but that back then no wood was used but a metal frame.

What puzzles me in the story above, is "the other guys in the 229th". If they have the wood, they're not running the same version. If they're running the same version, there's no way in hell they have wood :D.

So how is it that everyone on the same multiplayer server, which would mean we all are running the same version, would have different cockpit models? At least two others on the server had wooden frames and I was the only one that had a metal frame.

Could it be that there are intercompatible versions?

Does anyone else see a wooden A-frame? If so what version does the Dora module show on the main screen?

I asked and they said they were using a sound mod and nothing else.

Error in Matrix :D.

Seriously though, they must be running the last revision of 1.2.11, beta or final relase, 'cause I don't think it's possible to update the game "partially", not with the updater tool at least, and both cockpit mods available for old Dora changed the textures only.

nice to see the wood is gone,

Is the Bar at the base of the armoured glass less visible?

HP G2 Reverb (Needs upgrading), Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate. set to OpenXR, but Open XR tool kit disabled.

DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), DLSS setting is quality at 1.0. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC... Everything needs upgrading in this system!.

Vaicom user and what a superb freebie it is! Virpil Mongoose T50M3 base & Mongoose CM2 Grip (not set for dead stick), Virpil TCS collective with counterbalance kit (woof woof). Virpil Apache Grip (OMG). MFG pedals with damper upgrade. Total controls Apache MPDs set to virtual Reality height. Simshaker Jet Pro vibration seat.. Uses data from DCS not sound... goodbye VRS.

While not related to the original post....if you check out the two screenshots it does look like it is reduced.

Files on the update might not have been transferred properly. Just my guess.

Know and use all the capabilities in your airplane. If you don't, sooner or later, some guy who does use them all will kick your ass.
