tflash Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 What we really need in BS is some swift patrol boats, to be able to do more intresting harbour incident missions. The problem is that we now have a fleet of absolutely cold-war ships, that immediately sink one another with Kh-41's and are loaded with sams. What I would like is some more "realistic" low-level conflict gear, like an armed patrol boat that we can then try to sink with the A-10A, or with these combat choppers. Since BS is becoming a kind of BattleField III, lets do it properly and finally mothball all this cold war gear like the real armies are doing also, btw. The last time I accidentely put a Moskow somewhere on the water it shot everything out of the air, the sea and the earth :) 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Guest IguanaKing Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Is the GPS in the Ka-50 going to assume a greater number of total SVs than the current number of 13 in GLONASS, or will there be blackouts in its performance? Sorry...gotta play devil's advocate here. ;)
GGTharos Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 You can use GPS as well ya know ;) All you need that for is to correct your INS position ... not sure how it's all mechanized in BS right now, but so far, flying 50km routes isn't really going to make a huge difference I think. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Guest IguanaKing Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Only if the USDoD lets ya. ;) They recently relaxed peace-time restrictions on civilian receivers, but they still retain the power to degrade any of them other than US and/or NATO military. INS is great, I agree, but that pretty tube has a GPS antenna connection, which would be a great standby if the 429/568/Russian whatever screws up. If Russian glass is as good as Western glass...it only works 40% of the time. ;)
SwingKid Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 What we really need in BS is some swift patrol boats, to be able to do more intresting harbour incident missions. Do you remember the "torpedo boat" from Flanker 2.0? One of my favourite units.. :) Of course, now we're getting the truck-mounted ZU gun, that's arguably the same thing on wheels. -SK

I -believe- it gives you the option of using either constellation. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Guest IguanaKing Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 How much does it provide, other than GPS/INS position?
GGTharos Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 http://avia.transas.com/eng/abris.htm The one in the real Ka-50 includes some military modifications, AFAIK, but is essentially the same thing. That's about all I can tell ya without asking permission first. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Guest IguanaKing Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 As long as it doesn't provide AD and/or AHRS info...its cool by me. :D
GGTharos Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 To me it's a buncha lines that tell me where to go :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Kula66 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I am still puzzled about the F-15 picture ... is it supposed to reveal something new? I think it is showing, that despite its nerfed radar, low engine power and blind missiles ... current plans are that it is still going to be in 1.2 and that WVR it will be able to handle a Su-22 ... probably JOKING!!!!
Guest IguanaKing Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 To me it's a buncha lines that tell me where to go :D Roger that. :D I guess it wouldn't have AD or AHRS on it because they already have the good, old fashion steam gauges to handle those critical functions. Man...those pilots are going to get so spoiled by that system. GPS almost makes you forget how to navigate with your other NAVs.
