Dunravin Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Hi Getting very poor frames on Titans Rage campaign mission, even on the lowest setting the frame rate is too bad to play. I'm running an i7 920 @ 2.6Ghz 6Gb Ram and a GTX760. Is there any chance we can get a reasonably optimised campaign that's playable? Thanks Dunravin' now.. The FALSE is real, but it's not THRUTH right? Intel i7 8700K OC4.4GHz | 16GB | GTX1080Ti | Logitech G940 | TrackIR5 |
King_Hrothgar Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 The problem is the DCS graphics engine. It puts most of the graphics processing on the CPU and only uses a single core to do it. The only solutions are to cut the number of planes involved or wait for EDGE to be released. It runs fine on my I5 4690 @ 3.5 GHz, but that is a far better processor than the I7 920 when it comes to single core performance. But I certainly understand your pain. I was an AMD user until a few months ago and though DCS may not like your lower clock speed, it really hates AMD at any clock speed.

Watch your memory usage while you are playing the campaign if you can, it may very well be you are running low on RAM. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
Dunravin Posted February 5, 2015 Author Posted February 5, 2015 Managed to edit the mission and cut both sides units by half with some success, shame it stuffs the continuity and campaign tracking that way but at least get some more xp in the aircraft. Hopefully be upgraded and on 2.0 soon™ The FALSE is real, but it's not THRUTH right? Intel i7 8700K OC4.4GHz | 16GB | GTX1080Ti | Logitech G940 | TrackIR5 |
tsb47 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Really? I have 8 GB RAM. As well as a stock intel processor running at 4 GHz and a GTX970. Would I get more mileage with more RAM? Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit | i7-4790K@4GHz | 8GB RAM | GTX970 347.52

Dirty Rotten Flieger Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 (edited) I adapted the Mig29 campaign "over the hump" for the Mig21bis Enemies are F5E, F4E,F16C Enemies use Aim9p, Aim7m...no Aim120 Awac support and recce flight in all missions for "boggy dope"and increased your flight size from 2 to 4 Mig21bis. Works great. As if it was made for Mig21bis. The missions are perfect length for Mig21 with drop tanks. Just take off and fly 90% till your flight catches up . This way they will not spend all their fuel on afterburner catching up to you. I have played it 3 or 4 times through . Just love it. All the missions can be completed without dying but I often get killed and respawn, take off again then climb up high and fast to get over the mountain range to get back into the fight quickly. Mach 2 over 10000m. Maybe i should make a thread in this forum so more people are aware of this campaign. It is not demanding in terms of numbers of objects. The mission have less than twenty planes and only a couple of SAMs ... https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/895430/ Edited February 7, 2015 by Dirty Rotten Flieger
Derbysieger Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I recently played around with my overclock and tested different settings in DCS. All I can say is overclock your CPU. It's the best thing you can do for performance. Average FPS in the MiG @2.67GHz on an empty map, Tblisi, at mostly high settings, 2xAA, 10000m altitude, Mach 2.05: 20fps Average FPS at 4GHz, same settings, location, altitude and speed: 51fps ... FPS more than doubled! System specs are in my signature. Just make sure you have a good aftermarket heat sink. Dirty Rotten Flieger Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I found turning off the mirrors had a good effect and also turning up the preload slider to about 10K
