Fixed: When running uMFCD with the KA-50 for the first time, the Shkval would appear in the same aspect ratio, size and position as the ABRIS.

 

New: Since the introduction of support for the KA-50 last week, some users have been reporting that the Shkval and ABRIS appear as solid black displays. Unfortunately, we've not been able to track down this bug internally as yet. In order to simplify life for our beta testers while looking for this bug, we've introduced the "Generate diagnostics package" feature.

 

What it does is gather up all the files that could be causing problems for/might help with fixing uMFCD and generates an output to the System Messages section that you can easily copy/paste here.

 

How to use Generate diagnostics package:

 

1) Tick the relevant check box in the Settings section before launching DCS.

2) Start a flight in your aircraft of choice.

3) Once your flight has ended, a large amount of output should appear in the System Messages section.

4) Select All (Ctrl-A), Copy (Ctrl-C) then paste the output in to this thread or a PM to myself.

 

Much easier than finding all the right files and pasting them manually!

I am really looking forward to the FC3 support. I just recently got a PC build together capable of running decent games again, and am amazed at how far sims have come in the past few years. I haven't gotten to the KA-50 and the A10-C yet (been working my way through the P-51, FC3, and F-86F) but I'm very excited about using your mod when I make it there.

Thanks for all your effort! I have been really impressed with the community here for the couple months I've been lurking.

FRAPS, TS3 Overlay and the like are now supported. Given that enabling support for these tools requires some rather fundamental changes to the core of UltraMFCD, we would be very interested to hear about any stability issues while using these apps.

 

Further improvements to the KA-50 ABRIS & Shkval

 

Known issues:

 

The KA-50 caution lights appear overlaid on the ABRIS export. We will be releasing the caution panel as an export in its own right in the very near future.

 

Key bindings don't work with KA-50 yet. (Much more to come in this area!)

I launched UMFCD and then DCS and went to fly, but everytime I crash out. Suggestions? Missed Steps?

 

Launched UMFCD after my pit loaded. The UMFCD box now says "DCS detected"

I don't see any other windows open on either monitor.

 

 

Do I wait for the gears to quit turning?

Do I press something else?

Do I go and get some snacks?

Hi Scott,

 

There's definitely something going very wrong there. We recently introduced a diagnostics feature that should help determine what's going on. Could you follow the steps below then paste the output to this thread, please?

 

How to use Generate diagnostics package:

1) Tick the relevant check box in the Settings section before launching DCS.
2) Start a flight in your aircraft of choice.
3) Once your flight has ended, a large amount of output should appear in the System Messages section.
4) Select All (Ctrl-A), Copy (Ctrl-C) then paste the output in to this thread or a PM to myself.

 

Additionally, could you check whether the Windows Event Log contains anything pertaining to the crash, and include that too.

I have tested this a few times and found that you should first make sure that DCS runs ok without UltraMFCD running and then try running with it. When UltraMFCD first comes up go into the settings and disable the checkbox that tells it to disable MFD in the cockpit. If it still wont run then also disable all special settings like fade and then try again. I have found that DCS crashes when I tell it to disable cockpit displays and works fine if I leave them on. Also note that the displays don't come up until you are actually flying in the sim so the DCS decected message just lets you know that it sees the game and then it is just waiting for you to fly.

 

Now as a side note I want to say a big Thanks to Sgt_Baker for this overall excellent utility. I know it is a work in progress and I wait with eager anticipation for each new update.

Ok I solved the issue, and I think it might be beneficial to lay it out here

To get it to work I had to start/unpause the flight when not in the pit. Afterwards I moved to the pit and launched UMFCD. Works like a charm.

 

I went back to try and replicate this issue to produce a error report as requested. Now I can't get the problem to show up again. It just works no matter what. I was hoping to provide some better data, but unfortunately it looks like that will not be possible.

 

Now that it's working I will say that this is an amazing tool and a way better alternative, at least for me, to the standard Lua method!

Yours are the second and third reports of this bug in a 24h period. We were first made aware of the issue by somebody who emailed us directly. In that instance, too, the bug vanished before we were able to get a decent bead on it.

 

Will be monitoring this in an effort to eliminate the problem.

I may be confused. According to the instructions below:

Enable clickable displays

 

UltraMFCD incorporates a display's associated buttons in to the display surface itself, removing the need for bulky and obtrusive display surrounds. Deselect this option if you wish to disable the touchscreen functionality.

 

I had assumed that by deselecting this item, the Mfds would still appear but that I would have to use my own method for clicking the buttons. As I use Helios, I have a set of buttons already to use with your MFD displays. However, when I deselect this option, no MFDs appear anywhere. When I select this option, the MFDs appear and the MFDs are clickable, both in your MFDs and by the use of Helios.

Two issues in the latest version and Helios. First, I can no longer view the countermeasures info in the Helios pit, but it can be seen in the game pit.

I was wondering if you (or anyone else) had any advice regarding DCS Bios, as I can't seem to run both Ultra MFCD and DCS Bios at the same time. I just have an AHCP panel running on DCS Bios, using UDP port 7778 - does it conflict in some way? (Sorry don't know enough about these things - just an idea)

 

If I connect the serial port, Ultra MFCD doesn't start. If I do it the other way around and start Ultra MFCD first, my AHCP panel commands don't get transmitted to the sim, but Ultra MFCD works fine.

 

Any ideas?

To be perfectly honest, I've never touched DCS Bios. While there isn't a conflict regarding the networking ports, this bug could very well be similar to those we face with Helios previously. The thing to do here is to get uMFCD to generate a diagnostics package, then post it here (which obviously requires you to use the latter method where uMFCD runs). Doing so should give us some clear indications as to where the conflict is occurring.

I'll look in to this, but the simple solution would appear to be leaving the option checked for the time being. No loss of functionality that way. :)

The ability to do so is largely coded up under the covers. All we have to do is enable to UI to achieve this along with the relevant internal testing. Will appear in the very near future.
