It looks like the AGM-84 SLAM-ER is not being properly recorded in multiplayer. On the server tacview it seems to just carry on forward, while on the client of whoever fired the missile, the path is properly recorded and you see the missile connecting with its target.

Hi, this kind of thing happens sometimes on a busy multiplayer server. DCS sometimes fails to correctly export all of the data related to every single thing that is happening on the server side and there may be minor discrepancies.

If you think something more serious than this is going on you can send your files to support@tacview.net and we will take a closer look.

Hey! Is it a faulty setting on my end or is Fuel weight and FF not recorded in Multiplayer (flying the F/A-18 Hornet on Caucasus)?

Also, when I put in the setting "do not switch distance to feet" it still shows the distance between the carrier and me in feet...

I'm using the free version of Tacview.  Anyone has any good idea? Thanks

Update #1: Offline, Marianas map, Hornet = also no Fuel and FF readings in Tacview

Update #2: Bought a license, still no change re. FF, Fuel weight and distance in nm

Update #3: DCS settings under “Special” seem to be correct, capturing all data for Tacview

Hi,

Unfortunately fuel info is only available on certain aircraft and F/A-18 Hornet is not one of them.

Make sure you have selected Units → Imperial - Aircraft (nm) or (mi) along with Do not switch distance to feet to get the desired result. (The option Units → Imperial - Data Analysis (mi) and (nm) are always in feet.)

Thanks for your reply and your explanation.

In the free version you cannot zoom out that much, how much can you zoom out in the standard version?

Thank you 😄

In the Standard version you can zoom out the same amount as in the free version. To zoom out all the way you need Tacview Advanced. It's a feature called Strategic View. See here for the full breakdown of features per version: https://tacview.fandom.com/wiki/Features

howdy all, is there a way to work out how long i have been flying in mp from scraping the data from a folder of tacview files? i can see the pilots log from within DCS but that doesnt count MP.

Distances and bearings to objects recorded in DCS seems to calculated differently than to manually added objects (bombs in example pic):

Spoiler

tacview_glitch.gif

pic shows: bearing from object1 to manually added object2 (bomb) is 359.9° and distance is 19969m, but bearing and distance from object1 to more closer and righter eastern trolleybus (not manually added) is somehow 354.1° and 20001m

I can't get IAS to show on the selected object label.

TAS and CAS show up ok.

Hi, IAS is read from the cockpit so it is only available for some aircraft and then only if it is the piloted aircraft.

Hi, can you please share the ACMI file? Send it to support@tacview.net for a quicker response.

Sorry if I wasn't clear - I meant my own aircraft (shown in picture).

Hi, if that's the MIG-29A from Flaming Cliffs, and you were piloting that aircraft, IAS should be available. By any chance did a server record this? The IAS would be unavailable in that case.

It was recorded on my own PC. Here's one from just now in an F-16

Hi, can you use Tacview to jump back into a previously failed mission at a certain point?

Only within Tacview for watching it again inside Tacview.

Absolutely nothing can allow you to start a mission from a fixed point-in-time.

What you could do--but which might go spectacularly wrong--is load a DCS Track file and replay it up to the point-in-time when you want to take control again. When at the point when you want to take over, press <Esc> and in the menu, click on [Take Control]. This will put you into the cockpit and give you control over your aircraft.

Only works with SP missions. You can only run that last mission you started, unless you save it manually at the end of the mission, or before you start a new SP mission, rename the 'LastMissionTrack.trk' file in 'c:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Tracks\' to some other useful name, otherwise it will be overwritten. In the main menu, select Replay and then select this file to replay.

The problem is in what track files actually record. They record every control input you make from start to end, and everything the AI did with AI units. The problem is that the calculations are so complex when flying or when running the replay, that over time it is almost certain that some minor variations slip into the way your aircraft actually reacts to inputs, and minor variations build over time into huge major variations (butterfly-affect), like instead of you pulling up in time on a bombing run, your replay aircraft instead noses straight into the ground. Been-there-done-that.

You can try it, but I make no guarantees of success.

PS When you take over, be sure to set all your controller lever and switch settings to exactly they way they were at the point-in-time when you take over, otherwise you may immediately experience catastrophic... experiences, like when at mach 1.15 your landing gear suddenly drops.

Good luck

Hi, I just thought of something, are you using Tacview Starter? IAS is considered a part of "Advanced Telemetry" since it comes from the cockpit and is not calculated simply from the position of the plane unlike the other properties showing on your label. Advanced Telemetry is a feature of Tacview Standard and Tacview Advanced. https://tacview.fandom.com/wiki/Features

That'll be it. Thanks!

Hi, Tacview 2 will be able to run on macOS and Linux. While it is developed on Windows, its engine is fully portable and runs well on Linux, including Ubuntu, Debian, and even Raspberry Pi. https://www.tacview.net/documentation/tacview2faq/en/

Hello. Yes I saw that already 🙂

My question was more related to the current release as TacView 2 is not yet available.

Thanks.
