Razor18 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Earlier there were debates wether the tanker speed is realistic. I've seen some training video (maybe earlier) where tanker flew 213 kts, but now in 1.2.16 I always find it flying 180 kts. Sorry, Quick Search didn’t bring it up for me: is this the „default” in game value, or it is adjustable for all mission individually in the Mission Editor? Is real life tanker speed about the same? It just seems to be a bit slow to me, or the plane seems to be a bit sluggish. THX
Eddie Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 RL refuelling speed for the A-10 is 220 KIAS. The default speed is not realistic and should be changed by mission designers.
Sierra99 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) Screw the curves just get this if you have a TM WH. What they use in real simulators to give the feel of the plane. http://www.alasrojas.com/3.0/?page_id=662 This is a neat part but it simulates the F-16 stick forces, Not the A-10. A-10 stick movement is completely different than the A-16. Adjusting the curves is a helluva lot cheaper too.. Plus, for that amount of money you could hire someone to refuel for you. Razor18 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Question going back to the refuelin topic: what does the tanker actually do, when you radio him "Intent to refuel"? Does he reduce speed to 180, turns to any predetermined heading, does he climb/decend to altitude? Or he flies the same speed as long he is expecting any aircraft to drop in for fuel? In other words: is it better to radio him from a great distance, or just when you are pretty near? Just trying to reduce the time to reach it. The other day I chased it a bit from a lnger distance, and was wondering if he would fly faster in the track pattern (on a leg towards me), if he doesn't have anyone incoming with refuel intention radioed in advance.
Yurgon Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 what does the tanker actually do, when you radio him "Intent to refuel"? AFAICT this call doesn't change the tanker's track. I only notice the tanker changing the behavior once I call "Ready pre-contact" and he acknowledges "Cleared contact".
