agrasyuk Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Started on the CDU! Adjustments need to be done and some details are missing, also think I need to make the buttons smaller... What do you guys think ? First of all good job, it is indeed very useful endeavor you took on, many thanks for your efforts. Its awesome that autodesk has the student license program going. I downloaded Inventor, killed an hour+ on tutorial, was able to open your file, put a ruller to it and compare to my cad work. As far as CDU, I never held a real one nor seen actual drawings. 11mm buttons is the size I'm making my in (11mm opening, button itself 0.5mm less). Minor Question as far screen cover however - there might have been dif versions but the pictures I seen screen protector is a flat transparent piece (probably of something very impact resistive), not a frame like drawn. Lars Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Thanks for the feedback, will look into it! Dont know if the real one is, but I have decided to make the CDU out of alu. Need it to be robust :)
Lars Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Do you use parametric modeling though? Bucic: Yes I'm using parametric modeling. It will be easy for me to change dimensions etc, if people give me inputs. Sorry for the late reply.

No problemo. I just wanted to ask. Sometimes people get into a work like this with lots of energy buy with wrong tools. Technical figures in photoshop are not uncommon... Keep it up! Think Im getting there, or close to the dimensions I'm happy with. Will release the CAD files when some more progress is done. All feedback, pros and cons are appreciated! -Lars
Lars Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 Thought I would give you guys an update on the main instrument panel.
Lars Posted March 31, 2015 Author Posted March 31, 2015 Done some changes on the height of the center modules on the main instrument panel, also showing some more progress and adjustments. Feel free to look into the cad files. My plan is to get this CNC ready in about a month, still allot of work to be done. -LarsMAIN INSTRUMENT PANEL.rar
Lars Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 Can anyone help me out with an angle and a distance shown in the picture below?
Boltz Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Hi Lars, Angle is 10 degrees. Not sure about the distance though 1 A-10C Cockpit Build Thread My YouTube Channel
Lars Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 Hi Lars, Angle is 10 degrees. Not sure about the distance though Thank you so much Boltz! Lets see what I can do with the correct dimensions, I will post a picture when done.
Lars Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 Here is some close to finished DWG & STEP. files of the CDU. Need to figure out what display to use and make room for it on the backside. Make a back-plate and a "platform" for the keys. -LarsSTEP&DWG CDU FILES.rar
Lars Posted April 11, 2015 Author Posted April 11, 2015 At the moment I am rebuilding all my panels to real dimensions. I found a very interesting document/post about Dzus standard and will adjust my panels to match it. So if all goes to plan, all the panels (left and right console) will have the accurate dimensions. For people making their own panels, this attached document is a very nice and informative read. -LarsPanelbuildingfocussedondimensions.pdf

Lars Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 (edited) You got some more suggestions agrasyuk? Here are most of the panels of the right and left console. There is some missing. These should be 100% accurate to Dzus railings and the real panels. Shout out if you guys see some mistakes, and I will fix them. Now that the size is accurate I will continue on holes for toggles and rotary's, text and details. If you guys want to use my finished models, shout out what format you want me to upload them in. -Lars Edited April 12, 2015 by Lars 1
Retsilf Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Lars, what you are doing is fantastic work. Thank you for all this. Let just ask one question: Are those models also as .stl file available?
Lars Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 Sure they are! If I got the time for it, they should be ready with holes and text ready for the CNC around next week.Part of right and left side panels.rar 1
