tob.s Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Hi, i researched this topic a bit and it seems that there are plenty of programms, some free, some not. They all use windows speech recognition so i think there shouldnt be much difference on how well they understand the commands. As most of the information i came across is pretty out-dated i thought it would be best to ask u guys - Which ones are u using and do u have profiles to share ? greetings tob.s

Blooze Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 (edited) I use VoiceAttack and am very happy with it. It's cheaper than dirt (free trial to get started) and very easy to program. There's one thing I have learned and that is the many hours that people spend training voice recognition in Windows really isn't necessary with VoiceAttack. Here's why, if I say "better" in VoiceAttack and it thinks i said "butter" or "bitter" or "mother" or whatever, the only thing that matters is that whenever I say it, it activates the proper keystrokes. If someone saw my profile it would probably look like language from another planet, but who cares if it works. I am hooked on VoiceAttack and highly recommend it. Gladman Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 DWVAC I had voice attack but it stopped using the "list" commands and started using the entire dictionary. Contacted tech support and got nowhere. Bought DWVAC and have had 0 problems. Works flawlessly every time. MA_Goblin Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I use VAC (http://dwvac.com/) and am quite satisfied. Bourrinopathe Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 (edited) I've only read good things about DWVAC and it seems really powerful. Yet, I've bought Voice Attack as I felt more comfortable with its UI and I've seen several demonstrations about the configurations. Two things I like with VA is that it can play a random sound when you trigger a command, and the function that plays a sound when you hit a key. I've set the Su-27 autopilot modes with custom (Russian) voice feedback, so when I press a key, VA tells me what mode I activated . :) I love that. Same goes for the ECM on my HOTAS: I have an audio feedback when I use the toggle on the throttle (the related light is not very visible (on the right console)). Is this possible with DWVAC? I believe that they are both good but Voice attack is the superior software. It is capable of so much more than VAC. I use it with Elite Dangerous and it is simply amazing. mondaysoff Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I have recently bought Voice Attack, recommended by an ED forum member. I haven't had much time to use it properly yet, only managing to put in a few commands and they work spot on first time. I plan to set up all radio comms with this software for all my modules. Thoroughly recommend.
WildBillKelsoe Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Does accent play part in voice recognition? My English is good but sometimes subconsciously my Arab accent kicks in and I get all sorts of weird commands. zaelu Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I use also Voice Attack. Very good! Simple to use because the command name is what you need to speak and what it expects to hear and also supports Joysticks! Bit late but I just saw this! Yep, in VAC for each command you can set a success sound WAV (you can select a file or record a new one from within VAC) or a success phrase, which is just text that's read by Windows text to speech function, so you can select any of the available voices for that. Obviously the latter is the quickest option and works well for me for most purposes. Bourrinopathe Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Nice. Thanks for the details doveman! Is it also possible to trigger a random sound from selected files (.wav and such)? It's not as easy as it could be in VA (v1.5.7). /// ВКБ: GF Pro MkII+MCG Pro/GF MkII+SCG L/Black Mamba MkIII/Gladiator/T-Rudder MkII | X-55 Rhino throttle/Saitek Throttle Quadrant | OpenTrack+UTC /// ZULU +4 /// /// "THE T3ASE": i9 9900K | 64 GB DDR4 | RTX 2080ti OC | 2 TB NVMe SSDs, 1 TB SATA SSD, 12 TB HDDs | Gigabyte DESIGNARE mobo ///
