Buzzles Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) Manual is located here: ...\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\Bf-109K-4\DocStart reading from Page 152. Honestly, those are two really basic questions, so I have to ask if you've actually even looked at the manual at all? All you need to do to use the really simple reflex sight in the 109 is to turn on the circuit breaker (V-100) and you're good to go. There's no range or size adjustments, the only thing you can do is alter the brightness or put the sun filter up. Edited May 2, 2015 by Buzzles 1 Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!

Sgt_Fresh Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 Some people just like the social interaction. :) I see no harm in answering and I like the easy ones. Wow that's quite gracious of you. Back in the day you would get a printed manual with the game. I at least now no were to look.
Sgt_Fresh Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 How do you turn on the v-100 circuit breaker? I read the manual, but I don't see how to turn on the gunsight.

WildBillKelsoe Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) V-100 needs you to move a little bit forward to see the fuze box on the right hand side wall. Its the one with black and red buttons IIRC. Once that is enabled, flick the gunsight and the top left switch next to it on the front dash. Good hunting! Buzzles Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 WOW thanks Blaze!!!! Just so you know, the pic Blaze posted is on Page 103 of the manual that you said you'd read. Also, could a mod merge this thread with Sgt_Fresh's other gunsight thread? Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
Sgt_Fresh Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 Just so you know, the pic Blaze posted is on Page 103 of the manual that you said you'd read. Also, could a mod merge this thread with Sgt_Fresh's other gunsight thread? I could not find it in the cockpit, but I now know you have to move the view angle to see it. That is why I ask.
Sgt_Fresh Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 Gunsight & trajectory the mk108 30mm gun rounds do not show in my gun sight when fired. I do understand that they are heavy rounds and are subject to a trajectory drop, but at 200 yds they are barely visible straight away lower sight reticule. I know it is not a lead computation gunsight, but even my mg rounds are seen at the lower circle on the gun sight. Is there a away to adjust the gunsight for trajectory? Thanks in advance for not kicking my *ss when I ask a question.
Flying-Kane Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Hi Sgt_Fresh, nobody kicks your ass, but why open a new thread every time, we just could have stayed in the other thread. The gunsight isn't adjustable, you can only dim the brightness, that's all. For training purposes: Build a mission, where friendly units fly in front of you. Try to hit them from different positions, go on with hostile planes without ammo. So they will try to flee from you. With enough training, you will get a feeling for deflection shooting, even without tracers. I don't know, if MK108 ammo had tracers in real life, in DCS we have none. Demon_ Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) You only have to read the manual as Buzzles mentioned. Edited May 2, 2015 by Demon_ Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
DieHard Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) How do you turn it on? And make adjustments? You also have an iron sight to use, left side of the gun sight, when the reticule goes blank from damage. The iron sight has a V with an upright arrow or inverted V within it to sight on. It is part of the sight, nothing to turn on, it is there already. The powered reticule in most of the various aircraft in DCS goes out as one of the first damages that occurs from enemy fire. I created a custom snap view to set it, my virtual pilot's head moves left of my powered-up gun-sight's viewing centerline. Then I set a button on my Pro Throttle to bring it up. This does not need power for it to properly function other than turning on my PC. I use the powered reticule's center point and fired gun tracers to set the snap view. It works for me like a charm. (Well, they look like tracer rounds to me; every sixth round in a 200 round M-60 machine gun's belt were tracer rounds or how could I see where my rounds were going?) DieHard Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 (re: Message #11) "My guess that my gunsight was not actually on, sometimes getting an answer from the DCS community is not worth the effort." I have always found the DCS community to be friendly enough for answers to my questions. Granted, I usually spend quite a lot of time in the archive before asking something to see if my possibly posted query has been discussed previously within a relatively recent time frame. I am surprised the moderator has allowed some of the snide responses to be posted or to still be included in this thread, but it is a Saturday and they do deserve a day or two off the routine. DieHard Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 (edited) Wow that's quite gracious of you. Back in the day you would get a printed manual with the game. I at least now no were to look. A printed manual AND a keyboard overlay with each new sim aircraft purchased, well, Microprose sims, anyway. When I first came to DCS I did not know the flight manual for each aircraft was buried within the game's sub-folders, either. If I go to my : Windows 7\Start button\All Programs\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Documentation\aircraft I am interested in , then right click the mouse for Properties will show where the existing aircraft's flight manuals are residing in the ProgramData sub-directory, that are not placed in DCS World; I have both. I copy the .pdf manual like for the 109 or F-86 and put it there for a quick link until the official one is placed there by DCS (or maybe this isn't done like this anymore?) . I also stash a link to my Dropbox stash as overkill. Edited May 3, 2015 by DieHard [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
OutOnTheOP Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 The manuals can also be found (at least on my computer, running Windows 7 pro 64) in the start menu under all programs > Eagle Dynamics> DCS World> Documentation. I just find it a bit easier than using windows explorer to find them. They're all .pdf files, which can be read by *most* smart phones, so it might be worth sending them to your smart phone to use as a reference without having to close or alt-tab out of DCS all the time. And, of course, most of the community is happy to help. Feel free to jump online, use Teamspeak, and get some live help online. Best to go to aerobatic or free flight servers for basic questions, though- it can be frustrating to have a new guy ground looping on takeoff or something on a combat server. No one will give you a hard time, really, but it's best to have the basics of flight down and some experience with engaging AI before jumping on combat servers.
tflash Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Well, I also had problems with the gunsight but it had nothing to do with V100 or reading the manual. It had to do with the viewpoint. I had to configure an axis for the absolute vertical shift and absolute horizontal shift views to have the right angle of view to see the crosshairs. In the standard view position I just didn't see the crosshairs at all, they were too low. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
