I have recently bought a Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback 2 joystick and I am currently having issues with it. I understand that DCS supports force feedback joysticks, but I cannot get this thing to work. I can fly around with it everything works except the force feedback. I get no resistance, no rumble effects, and it automatically re-centers itself. I've tried swapping the axis but that didn't make a difference and I have the "Force Feedback" box checked in the options menu. I am looking for anyone to point me in the right direction.

Does the force feedback work out side of DCS? I think you should be able to test it in the device app in control panel.

If there are centering forces then at least the hardware works.

What are you flying? Does the centering work when the aircraft is stationary on the ground? If so, in the case of an aircraft my guess would be either windows or dcs does not recognise the controller properly. If you are flying rotorcraft it's a different story since they handle ffb differently.

Also, if you have other joysticks or rudder pedals, etc. you might want to check if you have double assignments to any axis in the controller menu. This has caused me problems in the past.

I have tried many aircraft within DCS. The P-51, Dora, Blackshark, Huey, A-10C and the F-15. I haven't tried it in any other flight sims/games so I wouldn't know. I bought it used so that probably explains my problem.

I used that joystick before my recent upgrade to TM Hotas Warthog, I too wasn't getting any FFB in DCS although all the axis worked fine. Your best bet would be to download the free "Rise of Flight" just to test it there. I played that before finding out about awesome DCS but my MS ffb worked great there and also in Cliffs of Dover. RoF always had the best ffb model that I could find go try it and test it...good luck m8

+1 , same in IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad worked great...;)

I used FFB2 last about 6 months ago I guess, it doesn't work same in all modules but, in helicopters and WW II planes it did provide pretty stong feedback and was awesome.

Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V

Yes I am sure the drivers are installed properly. I am starting to suspect that the motors are dead.

That's great, but I said to uninstall them.

Uninstall them again and LEAVE THEM UNINSTALLED. It should work natively.

Dude I'm sorry, no need to get all bent out of shape. I have to unplug the thing often so I'll have to change it to where it doesn't automatically reinstall the driver every time I plug it in.
