Has there been any word yet on whether it is possible for F-86s or Mig-15s to participate in this event. I am worried that these machines will likely run out of gas when trying to traverse the large empty patches of the map without airfields in them, where they could refuel...

Sure:

Hey no one's perfect right! ;) I'm joking! We're opening this event to every aircraft, you can bring your favourite aircraft along for the event. Obviously if you cannot refuel you're unlikely to keep up with aircraft that can however you are welcome to try :)

You can also land to refuel when required if you cannot take fuel mid air.

Sure:

Well, in that case I am in:

Mad Max

F-86F Sabre with drop tanks

CST USA

1 lap (I understand the event consists of several laps around the Black Sea)

Guys.

If you fly with an aircraft, whom air to air refuel is not available, please plan your route, so that you'll end up landing back at the airport.

Let's take this one seriously. Don't degrade the level of the event with outlandings... Fly accordingly to the capabilities of your aircraft!

According to the OP, and I quote "Each aircraft will be assigned a specific Flight Plan including Altitudes to hold with this Flight Plan also being programmed into the aircraft's waypoints.

The Flight Plan routes will be published so all users can view the routing of their aircraft and others." So, I assume someone else will figure out the flightplan with refuiling airports, etc. for me in my F-86, or do I misunderstand something?

Hopefully yeah:thumbup:

Know and use all the capabilities in your airplane. If you don't, sooner or later, some guy who does use them all will kick your ass.

Nope, you are correct. Your F-86 will recieve a flight plan, that, if you add some fuel management, won't jeopardize the security of your aircraft and should provide refueling airports in between the longer legs of your flight plan.

S!

Great:thumbup:

Just a week now, looking forward to it!

Let me take the opportunity to bump the thread in hopes that some people missed it and we'll recruit some more pilots to join the event. ;)

Yeah, watching this like a Hawk! :) Looking forward to it, anything new about flightplans, details etc.? Do I need to learn some ATC lingo?

That's very odd, Simon - our appologies for that. If you please pm me your sign up name I'll let the superadmin know. That shouldnt happen.

As for the ATC, Maverick should get back to you, soon!

Cross the Pond Learning Material and Charts

I'd like to thank 104cdt_pYlot for his hard work in putting the Tutorial and Transcript documents together, he really did a fantastic job with these!

The ATC Tutorial serves as a very comprehensive introduction to ATC Interaction, which I am sure will help many people in the future as we integrate more ATC Events into DCS!

ATC Interaction Tutorial

104th ATC Tutorial (Civilian)

ATC Communications Transcript

104th ATC Transcript (Civilian)

Kutaisi Departure & Arrival Chart

104th Kutaisi RWY08 DEP & ARR (Fictional)

Flight Plans are still W.I.P and will be published soon!

:joystick:

This will be the first of many ATC Orientated Events from the 104th, we have big plans to increase the complexity and scale of the ATC Service in the near future. However this event is aimed at being as simple as possible with the intention of not scaring off people who may be overwhelmed by the proposition of a full ATC Service.

If you know nothing about ATC it is not a requirement that you fully understand the Tutorial Document. All we ask is that you make time to read it and try to take it on board, remember to have the Transcript handy when attempting your flight so you know what to expect on the radio! If you enjoy your time with us you can look into more documentation coming in the future and ramp up your ATC Interaction within DCS!

We aim to gradually increase the ATC Complexity and also incorporate Military ATC as events pass, so to the experienced crowd in this area I ask you to be patient with us gentlemen, we do plan to add things like real world charts and procedures at a later stage.

As I have stated before in this event we plan to provide controllers for the Ground, Tower, Departure & Approach positions. For anyone who has never been on anything like VATSIM this is a nice little introduction with patient controllers to how Civilian ATC works, anyone who needs any help will 100% be catered for and helped along!

On the flipside, the men on the scopes are qualified VATSIM Controllers so for those of us who know what we are doing there is a chance to do some circuit work at Kutaisi with rated controllers or even just enjoy having Departure and Approach services in DCS!

Thank you to everyone who has already signed up, I'm hoping these events will grow into something we all look forward too! There is a lot of potential for ATC, Fighter Control/GCI in DCS, we intend to start using some of that potential to the best we can. It might get off to a rough start but its 100% something we are committing to getting to work on a large scale to enable us to have combat and non combat events in DCS with ATC.

Awesome documentation, [Maverick], many thanks for all the hard work that went into it!

I feel like a total noob once again, all this ATC talk is quite intimidating to someone who mostly flies solo and isn't used to communication anywhere near this level of detail, but it'll be a great opportunity to learn some of the basics.

Most of the documentation is very well explained, but I can't wrap my head around some of the taxi procedures from the tutorial:

3.4 Taxi

[...]

You need taxi clearance before departure and after arrival too.

✈ Uzi 11, request taxi.

☺Uzi 11, taxi to holding position Bravo, runway 08, via taxiway Foxtrot, Alpha.

✈ Taxing to holding position Bravo, runway 08, via taxiway Foxtrot, Alpha.

Most examples refer to Kutaisi, but in DCS_GND_Charts.pdf that comes with DCS (in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\ by default), I can't for the life of me find any taxiways labeled "F" or "Foxtrot" for Kutaisi-Kopitnari.

(Some examples refer to Krasnodar instead, where there is a taxiway Foxtrot.)

Could you point me in the right direction or post the chart that'll be used for the event so that we all have a common reference?

And one more question: Does APU start require start up clearance? If so, are pilots required to connect ground power if their radios won't work on batteries alone?
