HEy gents, this is a bit of an introduction and a bit of gushing praise. I'm a sim guy and been playing for 15 years. Was also a AH64 crewchief for 6 years. So I've been big into aviation for awhile.

I've played a few other DCS games to include Black Shark1, A-10C, F-86, and F15C. The Huey is by faaaar my favorite module. What is it that makes it so darn good? I felt that Black shark was too easy and too sterile. Its easy to fly, easy to shoot and target get destroyed from miles away. It felt too detached. The a-10 was fun to fly, but just too difficult to learn the systems. The Huey...its just...perfect. The systems arent overly complicated to learn, the flight dynamics are difficult at first, but once you learn force trim, she flies like a dream.

I like the assaulting mode of fighting of fighting for the Huey. Down and dirty and in the enemy's face. This is a module that I think about at work til I get back home to fire up my rig. Bravo to the devs and Belsimtek. Well well done. I just wish there were more Huey specific squadrons. What is it that keeps you all coming back?

Welcome and

Love, love, LOVE that too! The Ka-50 and the Hog are both great, but a tad too hi-tek for me as well. Flew both for ages and learnt all the systems, but nah - too sterile, press a button and 15 miles away a bad guy dies...

But the Huey. A different story altogether. Just install the Vietnam scenery mod available on this site and populate the map with suitable enemy units and presto! You've got a bitchin' COIN scenario going :D

The huey has quickly become my favourite module as well, although The Shark will always hold a dear spot in my heart just for the sheer hell it can raise anywhere it goes!

+1 to that. The Huey is excellent and lots of fun to fly. There's a real sense of accomplishment once you learn to keep all those parts flying in formation properly. :-)

I recently picked up the Mi-8 on sale and I think that's another winner from Belsimtek. I certainly had to adapt my Huey skills though as the rotor turns in the opposite direction.

Snark I think I have played with you on a few occasion within this past week. Or at least someone else named Snark. Something I've Noticed is that it seems Huey guys consistently play Huey from server to server.

It's good to hear from someone with your experience validate my infatuation with this machine.

That sounds very likely, I've been flying on the TAW server the most, the 104th mission for the Huey is in most cases extremely difficult if you don't have a KA-50 with you!

Welcome to the forums. The huey and hip are my favorites too. Any assistance or questions you need/have just ask :)

Welcome aboard. To me, A-10 was a challenge (and still is). Huey got my love, especially after reading (not yet finished) Mason's book. I just love the fact that there is no flight augmentation system, she flies with feel and she can take alot of gunfire before giving in. I'm sure when multicrew is achieved by ED some time in this millenia, the fun factor will be doubled.

Let alone the techniques to really push her to the edge of the envelope. A great helicopter and a true icon of the American military.

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

thank you, very pleasant! Nonetheless - we have the plans something to improve!:)

Thanks for this tidbit, PilotMi8! And remember folks, you heard it here first: the Huey is NOT forgotten!

It's a solid machine. Hardly has powertrain problems. Mostly Electronic gremlins

has anyone heard if they are implementing multipilot system to the huey? I just now realized I hadn't heard it

Yes it was part of the original deal. ED are now working on implementing it for many modules coming and current (trainers, choppers, and the venerable F-14 and F/A-18C) will be using it.

If you open the product page its there

Unmatched flight physics providing the most realistic and dynamic conventional helicopter experience on the PC.

Multiple player positions, including pilot, co-pilot, and door gunner.

Accurate and highly detailed 3D cockpit featuring six-degrees-of-freedom technology.

Interactive cockpit controls that allow you to operate the systems using the mouse.

Realistic modelling of the UH-1H instruments, weapons, engine, radios, fuel, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Highly detailed UH-1H external 3D model, liveries, and weapons.

Accurate and engaging audio environment based on actual UH-1H sound recordings.

Missions that include transport and combat support operations.

Training that includes interactive and video lessons.

Multiplayer coop mode for crew members of the same helicopter under development for a later update.

Developed in close cooperation with real UH-1H operators.

The Huey was my first module and it's still the best of them all. What makes me come back? Well I guess it's something about that closeness to the enemy you mentioned. If you're in combat in the Huey, you're so very close to danger all the time. It's like you can smell the fear :)

If you love the huey, the Mi-8 is also worth a shot. Definitely my favorite. Will prepare you for the Mi-24 as well.

I've seen the Mi-8. Ive worked with it up close and personal with the Polish army and I guess I am just a bit biased. They werent very well kept and had Russian(Or polish, they look the same to me) writing all over the instruments. Its not my thing. It reminds me of a not as good Chinook. Now THATs something I'd pay money for, though.

I would die (and re-spawn) for a chance to fly the Chinook. For a DCS level study sim of it like the Huey, I'd pay hundreds of dollars for it.

The Hornet is best at killing things on the ground. Now, if we could just get a GAU-8 in the nose next to the AN/APG-65, a titanium tub around the pilot, and a couple of J-58 engines in the tail...

VEAO has a Chinook on their development roadmap, including a Puma, Lynx and Wessex.
