Eflemmen Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 is it possible to turn the trim off like in the huey? :):joystick:
zaelu Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 You can try deactivate the Autopilot from its circuit breakers. But I think Mi-8 wasn't designed to fly without it or without trim. The rudder trim on/off in options had been introduced I think because some people get confused about it as we have no rudder pedals with FFB. Art-J Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Is it possible to turn the trim off ? Why would you ? To reset the damn rudder pedals, all mixed up by the heading autopilot. But I'm not sure if that's what OP meant?, If yes, then there is a trim reset button available. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
AlphaOneSix Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 No, you cannot turn off trim in the Mi-8 (well, the real one anyway).
Eflemmen Posted July 17, 2015 Author Posted July 17, 2015 Is it possible to turn the trim off ? Why would you ? I am used to fly without the trim on the huey :) i feel i have better control without it :)
Cibit Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 I am used to fly without the trim on the huey :) i feel i have better control without it :) Is it possible to get the whole travel of the stick without trimming? I dont think I could successfully autorotate without using the trim button on either Helo To reset the damn rudder pedals, all mixed up by the heading autopilot. But I'm not sure if that's what OP meant?, If yes, then there is a trim reset button available. Ok I got you but I use cntl T to reset and for any major course deviation I would disengage Yaw channel until I was heading straight again i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
Socket7 Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Is it possible to get the whole travel of the stick without trimming? I dont think I could successfully autorotate without using the trim button on either Helo As long as you have your saturation is at 100%, 100% deflection of your joystick == 100% travel of your cyclic stick. The only thing not trimming does is makes you hold the stick in a funny position all the time vs neutral. Well that, and there's the heading autopilot, that occasionally needs a trim reset if you use it. Disabling the autopilot stability channels will make piloting the MI-8 a much more "lively" experience. Your mileage may vary on if you like the feeling or not. I find the stability channels to be invaluable in saving me a lot of effort and stick wiggling. Practice makes perfect.
Slazi Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 I am used to fly without the trim on the huey :) i feel i have better control without it :) You may feel that way, but you really don't. Once you get used to the trimmer, you'll never look back.
McBlemmen Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I dont understand this thread , here's how you fly without trim : you don't hit the trim button....
zaelu Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 or have the reset trim mapped as trim :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I5 4670k, 32GB, GTX 1070, Thrustmaster TFRP, G940 Throttle extremely modded with Bodnar 0836X and Bu0836A, Warthog Joystick with F-18 grip, Oculus Rift S - Almost all is made from gifts from friends, the most expensive parts at least
