Alpenwolf Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 (edited) Hi, the DCS: Ka-50 BS 2 is one of my favourite modules. In reality the Ka-50 is able of firing Iglas (air to air IR missiles). I wonder why such a cool thing was never featured. I don't think it's classified... I think using those is like one way of tracking the enemy using the HMS (Helmet Mounted Sight :geek:) in the Su-27. Since the HMS is installed into the Ka-50 as well, then it shouldn't be a problem, I guess... Please post any references regarding the missing of this feature or just share your thoughts. adese Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Here's a little starting place though I haven't read the thread in-depth. A2A in the KA50 would be cool for sure. I've had success with A2A Vikhr kills but obviously not as maneuverable as an IR missile.
CASoldier2014 Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 For the 100th time.. The Ka-50 that is modeled in DCS (#24) didn't have this capability in real life, so this one doesn't aswell. It's not a missing feature, but the way this specific aircraft was built. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

AlphaOneSix Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 No, it's just been discussed here about 1000 times. 1
WildBillKelsoe Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 so why is it not featured in the BS2.0? :D Just kidding :) that is the 1001 time.. 1 AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
ED Team Chizh Posted August 1, 2015 ED Team Posted August 1, 2015 (edited) the DCS: Ka-50 BS 2 is one of my favourite modules. In reality the Ka-50 is able of firing Iglas (air to air IR missiles). You are wrong. Ka-50s (all built aircraft) do not able firing of any AA missile in reality. Ka-52 can do it but not Ka-50. CASoldier2014 Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I don't get it. Why do people always get this misconception that the Ka-50 can fire AA missles? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
joey45 Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I don't get it. Why do people always get this misconception that the Ka-50 can fire AA missles? Because there are photos of the KA-50 with A2A missles on it's wings. Bit like the 33 and the antiship missle. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. AlphaOneSix Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Sort of like how the AH-64A controls include "IRIS" switches.
Avimimus Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I don't get it. Why do people always get this misconception that the Ka-50 can fire AA missles? Well: - It was advertised as being able to carry two types of air-to-air missiles - It has been filmed carrying the R-73 - Anyone more than twenty years old first heard it described by Western analysts as a strange single-seat 'helicopter killer' helicopter. Some type of queer escort and interception helicopter rather than a tank-killer.

CHAPE Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 (edited) AND? Gentlemen, who believes the Russians created a helicopter , unable to fight in combat without air air missiles ? Let's use your brain , not look only on the historical facts of this helicopter I'm sure in classified operations , the helicopter KA50 , use air air missiles Let's be smart....hopefully once users are heard and not just those who are aligned with the creators Perhaps , if we charged money for every missile we use , they would put missiles, air to air combat in the helicopter KA50 hugs! spaceraver Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 The 4-way on the Collective has a setting for A2A (Not used) along with inner, outer, both stations. And one button for slingload also, not in use. And as Devrim says. It's on the collective.. Cybermat: Collective control is the large stick on your left that goes up and down and makes your helo go..well.. up and down. Cyclic is your pitch and roll control along with pedals for yaw. dimitriov Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) it's quite sad they didn't do it, but i guess it was for good reasons... Anyway, last monday i shot down a F-15 with Vikhr :D Why to do simple when you can do hard ? :megalol: Anyway i'm not sure that any army would buy a kamov-50 in the version we have on DCS... joey45 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Unless you can produce actual documentation that the KA-50 can/did operate any A2A missile then please produce it.. Excluding random photos and wikipedia. The version that we have in DCS is one of 12? prototypes that were made. The version that the Russians would export will be the KA-52... Which by the way model in game is an eyesore:D The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. AlphaOneSix Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 "have appeared on test aircraft." Also, I'm fairly certain the Ka-50 can't use the Kh-25MP (AS-12 Kegler), just the Kh-25ML (AS-10 Karen), but I could be wrong. Also, the AT-9 is the Ataka, if I recall correctly, and the Vikhr is technically an AT-16, although even the DCS:BS flight manual gets this wrong.
