Mustang Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 For all you nvidia users ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/91.28 i'm an ATi user here myself, would be interested in how well this driver performs though :) edit : some release notes http://download.nvidia.com/Windows/91.28/91.28_ForceWare_Release_Notes.pdf
NEODARK Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 this is quite a big jump from the 8x.xx series.. weird they put them on the FTP. Thanks for the heads up. PS: there is a thread about them here: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?threadid=183646 but the forum is currently down.
Shaman Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Hey :) Nice. Does it fix the so long "shorelines issue", and "I can see objects through clouds bug" ? 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
NEODARK Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Aparently these new BETA drivers use the new control panel. Here's a quote from someone at [H] PICS!!! Sorry if they are to big though, just took them quickly for you guys. Anything else you want to see. Dont know how to OC. Would assume we will have to wait for a new Coolbits version or use Rivatuner. UPDATE: Took pic of classic navagation pane menu. Found it easier to navagate actually: Overall, I like it. I think the navagation is simple, but can be annoying now. I like the new profile managment. Alot easier to manage profiles for all your games now IMO. Dont think it was in the old ones, but now you can monitor your temps, while you dont have control panel open, so while you are playing a game, you can go back when you are done and see where they were at. That is a good ideal. If it was in the old ones, I just noticed it now LOL. http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1029471205&postcount=15 :D
Witchking Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 the new CP was introduced from the 80 series. I use it on my laptop but..th etemp logging makes BF2 lag a lot. Gaizokubanou Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Hello, I'm sort of new here (been lurking for a while though), and I tried out the new beta driver on my EVGA 7800 GTX 512. I was previously using 84.43, and I ran FEAR's benchmark program once for 84.43 and another one after installing 91.28. The results were 24 min, 43 average, 73 max with 84.43, compared to 27 min, 46 average, and 80 max with 91.28. It could have been a minor random fluctuation since I've ran the tests only once each, but I think it's rather safe to say that there is an improvement.
Shaman Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Okey I installed those, but switched to classic control panel - because I find that I use the old one much quicker. I've just played with LockOn a little, and they seem to run fine. (6600GT AGP here) edit: WOW! It may be just me. But I believe ADV.HAZE draws much better (better quality and better peformance). I'm not sure if that bug with adv.haze has been fixed (you know, the vertical broken shading or whatever you call it). I couldn't notice it. I always saw that at Sochi in one perticular mission of mine and now I just didnt see it at all. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
Shaman Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 W000.. even the shorelines quit flickerin like hell. Yes they kinda are still a a bit more visible then the background but quit flickerin on me. It looks so much better in all conditions 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
Prophet_169th Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 They have improved FPS in beta.... I havent gotten around to installing 1.12a yet on my new RAID. Impressed so far though. I prefer using the old control panel, all the new options are available there also.
ericinexile Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 I've experienced a huge framrate increase with 91.28. Admittedly, this might be due to the fact I've set 3D rendering to "performance" instead of "quality", something that was probably possible before, only I didn't know how. Also, the quality has definately been degraded, even on the plain desktop. In the end, it's worth it because the game was practically unplayable (with anything but a single a/c with no clouds and no collumns) before now. NEODARK Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 performance tyurns a bunch of optimizations on, thus making the game have higher framerate, but look worse.. I always play @ High Quality. PS: it has always been available. :)
Shaman Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 I have no doubts now. This is the best forceware release (from LockOn point of view for sure!) ever. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
ericinexile Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Well after gushing about 91.28 I've since had to revert to the previous driver. With the settings I was using large "triangles" of terrain would be remain blank and occasionally the pit would be partially obscured by these huge bands of...well I don't know what they were but they were obscuring. Probably this was all due to my settings and NOT the software but to be safe I went back with no problems--and not that I have a better idea what I am doing, no frame-rate loss. Shaman Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Maybe that's because you did not clean your system properly from leftovers after uninstalling previous version? I have no problems like you've described. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
