SPEKTRE76 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Hello, I noticed that ever since 9/7/2015 The Huey will no longer start. I thought I was forgetting something so I went back to the tutorial (Cold Start) and ran it. When it came time to hold down the 'Home' button to start the turbine nothing happened yet again. I tried re-mapping that feature to the 'E' button on my X-52 Pro HOTAS. Again, nothing happened. I even tried to map the start button to my flight stick toggles, nothing. Before anyone says "Are you sure that you....." Yes I am very sure after 11 attempts. :joystick::pilotfly: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] NEED DESIGN PROJECTS FOR YOUR CAMPAIGNS? PM ME.
QuiGon Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Are you sure that you increased the throttle (not collective) to the idle position or slightly above? ;) Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
maikchaos Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I jumped in my UH-1H and tried the training mission... the engine start still works as it should. That exactly is your problem? The engine just don't start? The Rotor/engine wouldn't start turning?

SPEKTRE76 Posted September 9, 2015 Author Posted September 9, 2015 What is FAT? Yeah The cyclic was where the tutorial instructor said it should be. To answer Maikchaos's question, it just doesn't make any sound. I've started this Helo several times before. I was wondering if I should just delete the folder and re-install? Charly_Owl Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 FAT = Free Air Temperature (how hot it is outside). This is the temperature you see on your cockpit window at the front between the pilot and copilot. If FAT is too cold, you may run into issues when trying to crank up. Paganus Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I think QuiGon had it right. There was a change. Now, after that change, you must bump the throttle up to start the engine. Throttle = twist handle on collective hand grip / page up - page dn Before the change, the throttle did not need this adjustment from the player.

But it did start every time before during the tutorial. I usually run through them about 10 times and then test myself. This just happened all of a sudden. X93355 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Yep, as others have stated. Look at the throttle grip and increase the throttle via the keyboard until you see it rotate, then decrease it. Engine will start after that : ) Happy Flying - The Huey is one of my favorite at the moment. maikchaos Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 (edited) I do wonder all the time why Belsimtek has the engine start so converted. If you are start a real Huey with this procedure the engine is broken/won't start, because you have flooded it with fuel before it can ignite. Normally (in real live) you have to close the throttlegrip by clicking the push-button just above the grip and close them fully, then push engine-start-button and at 10% on gasproducer slowly open throttle. Weren't there some statements from Belsimtek around the time the Huey got released, that the startup procedure is different from real life for the time beeing but they will change that in the future? I remember something like that at least. So, what happened to it? maikchaos Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Good question. Btw. the engine start procedure in the manual is different from the Tutorial but... also wrong. If you try start the Huey with the procedure as described in the manual "9.1.2. Starting Engine" in RL nothing will happen. The engine can't reach 40% N1 if the throttle is at stop position.

I press the starter button (home) with throttle - off. At N1 10-15 %, when the rotors start spinning I move throttle to idle. At N1 40 % I release the starter button. At N1 68-72 % I bring throttle slowly to full. I don't know why it's not working for you ;)
maikchaos Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Yes your procedere works but it's not from the Belsimtek manual where stands following: 3. Engine – Start as follows: a) Start switch – press and hold [Home]; note start time. b) Main rotor – Check that the main rotor is turning as N1 reaches 15 percent. If the rotor is not turning, abort the start. c) Start switch – Release at 40 percent N1 or after 40 seconds, whichever occurs first. d) Throttle − Slowly advance past the engine idle stop ([PgUp]) to the engine idle position. Manually check the engine idle stop by attempting to close the throttle ([PgDwn]). Ensure the throttle is kept in idle power as the engine is being spooled up. e) N1 68 to 72 percent. Hold a very slight pressure against the engine idle stop during the check. A slight rise in N1 may be anticipated after releasing pressure on throttle. In this manual the engine reach 40% N1 without increasing Throttle... if you change C and D in the procedere it is correct.
secret1962 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 You're right... I am using a real UH-1H/V checklist found in Chuck's guides, so I never noticed that the manual is apparently confusing.
