I note this all the time when taxiing the F-16; the heat blur effect from other aircraft far away from me blurs my HUD.   Not sure if it's a general problem or an F-16 problem

Heat Blur graphics setting configured as "High".
Observed on version 2.7.17.29140
Nvidia 3090 card

it's a general problem with all aircraft. unfortunately the blur is a pp effect that renders after the hud is already drawn.

The heat blur effect affects the HUD and HMD display. Of course that is impossible since the heat is behind the hud and not in front of it.

I'm running MT if that makes any difference.

what is the problem created by thermal blur?

The heat blur of the jet engine outside is affecting the hud display on the inside. This shouldn't be happening

and does it affect everyone?

probably

@BIGNEWY, I know this topic is an old and well-established one so I don't feel the need to go into great detail.  We all know heat blur affects HUD's in all aircraft (becoming extremely blurry as if INSIDE the heat blur).  The last thread I saw talking about the issue in 2022 seems to not have any resolution comment other than it's been reported.  Is there an update on if this will be fixed or should we expect it to remain for a few more years/indefinitely?

I ask because I'd love to turn it back on but this bug makes it a non-starter.

Thanks!

Hi,

it is a very old issue and a report is still open. No solution currently but I will mention it to the team again.

thank you

Heat blur from jet engine exhaust of aircraft is overlaid on top of the HUD.

I've tested this using the Heat Blur setting in High and Low. High and Low show the same distortion of HUD.

Currently it looks like the HUD is located behind the jet engine exhaust, so that light emitted by the HUD is distorted by the heat. I believe the distortion effect from heat shouldn't effect the HUD.

This can be replicated by placing any aircraft jet engine exhaust in front of the HUD of any aircraft.

I haven't tested this effect on all heat sources and all HUDs.Screen_240621_012501.jpg

Any news on this? This has been an issue for HUDs ever since heatblur has been a feature. I for one would like to have an explanation why it is so difficult to fix. Seems to me (though I'm no expert) that is should/ought to be possible to simply render the HUD afterthe heatblur effects, no?
