winchesterdelta1 Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Is it me or is it slightly harder to find people with the radar. Also PRF modes have changed. First i knew exactly when to use it to find people. Now i can't. I keep it on interleave again to find people. Also interleave will find people further away than High PRF. But high PRF does detect people within 40 miles head on. But interleave will do the same so no need to switch. Or maybe it's just me. Any explanation on how to use it now and get effective results? Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.
104th_Maverick Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 AFAIK there has been no intentional changes to the Radar. Will have to test this in more detail over the next few days. FeistyLemur Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Well, for one, some of the 1.5 servers I've played on have people warping and banding around all over the place. Maybe this is to blame.
winchesterdelta1 Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 I know it was not warping. I have to keep an eye on this and see if i'm not mistaken. Maybe something changed with the planes other than radar that causes this? Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.
Stuge Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 I have not noticed this, at least not yet.. http://www.104thphoenix.com
winchesterdelta1 Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 If you of all people did not notice it it's probably me imagining it. Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.
TAW_Blaze Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 I haven't noticed anything either. It probably has something to do with warping.
blkspade Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Ok so something is going on with the radar, but maybe not really the radar. On the server today my wingman how is right next to me calls out contact at 19nm. I'm looking right at where he should be on radar but only have a different bandit like 15nm behind him, both at low altitude. I am compelled to believe that he didn't actually see me either, as i never got a nail and he didn't engage me after splashing my wingman. After passing each other we did engage after both coming around. What's more interesting is after rewatching the track, he shows up on my radar in the track, though was never there in live play. The bandit was you Winchesterdelta btw, so did you see me initially right next to Crow? http://104thphoenix.com/

Maybe something to do with that? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
blkspade Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 There have been issues with some people not appearing for certain people after a mission has been paused. Maybe something to do with that? Unless the mission starts paused, I doubt it was paused at all. This was on the 104th server. I wish I had been recording while flying live, since MP tracks are still unreliable. In that same track one of my squad mates shows up as a RED mig-21 (according to tacview) under a different persons name, when they were actually in an Eagle. The only reason I realized it was actually him (since he was 'missing' from the track) was him being in formation and firing AIM-120s at Winchester. http://104thphoenix.com/
winchesterdelta1 Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 I noticed the same kind of behavior. Sometimes i can not see people but my wingman does. And Yes blkspade. I remember that. I never seen you. But my RWR did see you and crow. That's why i knew there where two. And i think i was initially searching for you. But could not find you so switch to vertical cause i was expecting you high. But it picked up crow. I found you a good 1 minute later i think. And you splashed me. Maybe i'm not crazy after all. Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.
winchesterdelta1 Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 And i think i do have it recorded. But it's going to be a really big live stream. Good luck searching ;) "It's going to take a couple hours to process" Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.

If you were in RWS/TWS at all, then the same clients must not be able to see each other at a given time. I continued to chase the flanker into sam coverage before coming around to see you. http://104thphoenix.com/
pr1malr8ge Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Well, I have had the same issue. I was trying to locate a friendly 2.5nm in front of me co altitude no matter what mode on radar I switched to.. MED/Hi/INTL tws, Bore, guns, VS would not locate him. It took close to 5 mins before he showed. I was on a free flight server with map view so I knew where he was. Also Had an issue where I was orbiting doing a 360* scan for 3 mins and never picked up an enemy. He closed the gap and fired and I never saw him Killing both my self and my wingman who was rejoining me. I only knew of his presence because my wing man asked me to pull into his 6o-clock position to look at a spike on his RWR that I did not have. I had scanned that area no more then 2 seconds before and when I pulled in still nothing then BAM he showed on RWR then a missile immediately after. For the WIN [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]If your desired effect on the target is making the pilot defecate his pants laughing then you can definitely achieve it with a launch like that.
Weltensegler Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Definitely don't trust tracks at the moment to find the problem because positions etc might be different. In fact the last days we had a lot fun replaying tracks that tell a complete different and nonsense story than what actually happened :) Haven't found a single track yet that wasn't off a minute into playing. 4790K@4,6Ghz | EVGA Z97 Classified | 32GB @ 2400Mhz | Titan X hydro copper| SSD 850 PRO ____________________________________ Moments in DCS: --> https://www.youtube.com/user/weltensegLA --> WELD's cockpit: --> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=92274
winchesterdelta1 Posted October 10, 2015 Author Posted October 10, 2015 I have some more strange behavior. Sometimes i get a missile shot without any RWR nail. The missiles seem to come out of nowhere. I noticed this behavior with flankers. I know 90% sure they where not shooting from my blind spot. I never got the RWR nail and i never got the hard lock. Just a missile warning that seemed to come out of no where. I know it was not in my blind spot because i seemed to pick the missiles up when they came straight from the rails. And i always had enough time to dodge them when responding right away. Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.
Schnarre Aggro Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 but u do know of the EOS on the russian planes ? and the 27ET ? good possibility that it was a combination of it ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] There are two types of fighter pilots - those who have, and those who will execute a magnificent break turn towards a bug on the canopy . . . . http://www.youtube.com/user/schnarrsonvomdach http://www.twitch.tv/schnarre https://www.facebook.com/pages/Schnarre-Schnarrson/876084505743788?fref=ts

domini99 Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Radar seems to work fine at higher altitudes. When you start lawn mowing it won't detect anything. I'm fine with that, fighter jets were never designed to cruise at 10 metres above ground level.
winchesterdelta1 Posted October 10, 2015 Author Posted October 10, 2015 ET should not give a missile warning right? Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.
pr1malr8ge Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 ET should not give warning.. as it is not a radar guided missile. For the WIN [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]If your desired effect on the target is making the pilot defecate his pants laughing then you can definitely achieve it with a launch like that.

Other people periodically just don't show up in situations where definitely should. You most likely wouldn't even notice it happening. http://104thphoenix.com/

DarkFire Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I've noticed some strange behaviour with the close air combat bore mode on the Su-27 radar (the "4" key radar mode). It's supposed to have a slightly longer range than the vertical scan close air combat mode but I have real trouble getting it to lock anything at all, under any circumstances. I've tried locking on to fighter targets at <5 Km and it just won't. Most odd.
