This is pretty recent if you haven't seen it - just 6-7 weeks ago, but part of their September update.

F-14A&B

We are making strong progress on the F-14, even though our other upcoming products are prioritized in terms of manpower.

Much work has recently been done to reverse engineer required parts of aircraft flight performance, so as to ensure the PFM is accurate.

Most of the work being done on the Tomcat is still (just like in the last update) the deep systems and their modeling.

We are done with the Electrical, Engine and AICS components, and have moved on to Advanced Flight controls, Navigation and Instrumentation.

Interestingly, many of the F-14s' systems are possibly simpler than one of our unannounced aircraft, but there is simply
more
– and that takes time.

Art development is progressing as well, with all exterior and interior components being animated and various model flaws have been corrected.

We're currently working on rigging and animating the pilot, texturing, rebuilding the internal gearbays as well as a large amount of UVW Mapping.

I know it's a fairly boring F-14 update; but that is generally how development goes.

Long stretches of deep technical programming work, while the graphical component is not much more than the pretty layer on the very top of the stack.

It is not long until the majority of our now large development team turn our entire attention to the F-14, and in that period of time we will likely see

unprecedented (for us) speed of development.

On a more visual and fun note; our dedicated F-14 site went up recently, you can find it at:

Best Regards,

Sounds like their plugging along and there will be a bunch of people working on it soon.

Yeah I saw that, just thought it had been a while, like you said 7 or so weeks.

Also I was under the impression that progress updates would be more frequent once they got their F-14 site up.

Either way I understand if they're too busy for an update atm, I'm just asking cause this is litterally the most excited I've ever been for an aircraft, thus my impatience constantly begs me to ask for an update :P

I think that will speed up once they announce their 2 other modules.

But I know what you mean about impatience...I've never been this excited about software. :)

Though I do have an F-14 questions for Cobra or Rudel:

Are you planning to discuss the F-14 theater in the near future? Or will that happen shortly before the F-14 Beta release?

1000 views already lol, people are hungry for news.

Young Cobra was crook for a bit so they are probably sitting behind where they want to be.

I am enjoying the speculation though from everyone and the random guesses people are making based on any and all potential sources (ie Cobras avatar etc..)

It'll all be announced in good time.

Also Star Wars Ep VII is nearly here, the excitement train is running out of carriages to pull!

Cobra! If you're still alive, give us a sign... in the form of a progress update!

I kid. The silence is a bit worrying though, and not in the "I need my toy now!" sense. Hope everything is going ok, whether business or health.

Everything is going just fine with the F-14 and Leatherneck in general. :)

While I'm out of texturing action for a few weeks -- the entire team is still hard at work.

Many thanks for the concern!

There is a possibility of an F-14 update in December. We're currently working on some of the more visual features, such as the HUD, VSI and HSI.

Since all I've seen is either "soon" or "to be announced" has there been any solid clue given about which year the Tomcat will be released? 2016? 2017? And no, I'm not being sarcastic or cynical.

I haven't been really monitoring updates and progress reports, so don't really know how close (or far) from being finished and released it is.

We are aiming for public release H2 2016.

Come on guys, what's your point? If this is the reaction when Cobra gives us some information, then he will stop and the whole community loses

He's right. That kind of bullshit already discouraged VEAO to show us in-development stuff...

I hope they can make it in that time. If not, well, I guess we'll have to wait a little longer then. It's not like we have a choice :D

But it's nice to have some kind of estimate

Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
