Yup, my issues were mostly along the lines of RTFM embarrassed-smiley17.gif

Anyway, I've gotten them ironed out with Hollywood help

The last issue was with the Keys assigned to COMMs Menu and COMMs Push-to-talk. It appears that they simply get confused between DCS (which appears to automatically use the US keyboard regardless of what is set in Window or VoiceAttack) and VA. The solution is to use Keys which are the same everywhere, like NUM4 and NUM5, or '.' and ','. The funny thing is, that the 'HOTAS PTT direct setup.txt' readme says to edit them in the profile, but this is not even necessary!! Simply change them, and it appears that they will be be read from DCS, and it works!!

One thing that aught to be in the Users Guide is to add all the ATC Call Signs to the MS Voice Recognition Dictionary. I found it to be mandatory. MS simply does not understand Batumi, Kobuleti, Nalchik, or any of the others without .

One thing is missing though. In the 'Command Sheet VAICOM v2.0 P-51D.html' it says about weapons:

"(appendix) Weapon | Flight Engage (Weapon) | Commands Flight Engage"

but I can find no such appendix.

Sorry Hollywood, I've read all of this thread and I'm still only getting my wingman to respond to "Rejoin" every now and again but most of my transmissions are not being understood. I start the sortie with "Start Mission" I hold the transmit in for a good while, I've run Win 10 speech recognition 3 times and still very poor success rate. That is with a normal headset. I have even less success with my Vive. I'm getting a bit frustrated now on what is I'm sure a great piece of software and profile.

Anything you can recommend?? Cheers :(

Hi Loz, how's it going.

Well if you get your wingman to talk back then it does seem something is working :) But overall the devil can be in the details with this stuff especially in the beginning.

All general advice for speech recognition applies, I'm sure you have these covered already:

*) use decent quality mic, properly positioned

*) if you're UK native speaker, use UK recognition engine

*) train the voice recognition engine (control panel) using same mic

*) add tricky words to MS Speech Library

*) speak slowly an deliberately especially at first, leaving small pauses e.g. 'two.....break right.'

*) recognition rates improve with time as you use it more.

Anyway let's do some checks and have a look at your log: we'll figure out what else could be the issue. I'll be sending a PM. Grtz

Ever since the latest open beta update to 1.5.4.54855.129 VAICOM2 has stopped working :(.

When I speak a message to ATC which is understood, I can see in the VA app that it was understood, but instead of it being transmitted, it's doing <F2>.

I have NUM5 set to COMM menu and RCtrl-NUM5 to PTT. When I go to edit the P-51D Profile, specifically 'Process Management' -> '_Menu_Execute' I see this:

Press F12 key and hold for 0,05 seconds and release

Begin Boolean Compare : [Easy_Comms] Has Not Been Set

Press NumPad 5 key and hold for 0,05 seconds and release

End Condition

Begin Boolean Compare : [Easy_Comms] Equals True

Press NumPad 5 key and hold for 0,05 seconds and release

End Condition

Begin Boolean Compare : [Easy_Comms] Equals False

Press Right Ctrl+NumPad 5 keys and hold for 0,05 seconds and release

End Condition

Press F11 key and hold for 0,05 seconds and release

Press F11 key and hold for 0,05 seconds and release

BTW I've never actually edited the profile; only read it a few times. Somehow VAICOM2 seems to be reading the settings from somewhere and connecting the commands (COMM menu and PTT) back to the configured keys, which is fine by me.

Hey Captain. Let's see. Skipping the obvious checks (numlock is on?) it seems you may have some conflict in your setup. From the log I see the combo rctrl+num5 is used by the script but you also use this as your ptt hotkey. This should be avoided, and more generally using modifiers like Rctrl is not recommended for the ptt hotkeys.

Can you first check in dcs config that the right key combinations are used there ie num5 for comms menu and rctrl+num5 for mic switch respectively. Then in the profile -ptt category- change the ptt key to '5'. Try if things do work with this hotkey. If the issue should somehow remain send me a PM.

Grtz!

Hi guys. Messing around with this, but adding words one by one to the Speech Dictionary proved frustrating. Maybe some of you have come up with a macros or hack to dictate commands from the manual faster? Maybe it's somehow possible to use custom text with "Train your computer" in Speech Recognition control panel?

Yes I agree, having to started Win speech recognition and then use something like wordpad is laborious but as far as I can see, it's the only way to do it.

Invalid Radio using Viacom

Hi Guys I have followed Hollywood's Viacom manual and set up as described but I am getting an "Invalid Radio" entry when I attempt comms. I can see that the comms are being recognised but I always get the Invalid Radio error. This happens in Easy Comms on or off on all PTT buttons. I have had a quick search and can't find anyone else with a similar issue any thoughts would be most appreciated.

Are you running Voice Attack in Admin mode? It's probably a daft question, but worth asking, because mine works fine here.

I have tried every solution under the sun. I'm well past have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in faze.

Sent while I should be working instead.

Hey Neil just to confirm VA was installed as Admin and works fine with other profiles that I have set up. It appears that there is some issue with this Viacom 2.0 which I will keep an eye on the forums to see if anyone cracks the code..

so for the time being it looks like there is a spoon :(

Just managed to get this working and just now a case of training the voice recognition. For the life of me I can't get it to recognize crew, i've re-recorded it so many times and it still keeps coming back with 'three' lol The two sound nothing like each other

Yes, I found I needed to do a few sessions in the Windows voice training facility.

I'd say this system is very powerful, but it does take a lot of work to get it set up.

As an aside, could Hollywood please give us some example coding so we can copy and paste in some routines for chocks and air please?

I can make routines to make air work, and chocks, but it upsets the place holder for ATC. In other words, you can request engine start, and then run the air routine, but then the ATC calls cease to function properly.

Rather than waiting for a profile for the F-5E, I'd like to just adapt an existing one.

I was curious if there was a way to add new commands to any VIACOM profile that don't require a hotkey press? I am using an Oculus Rift and looking to add simple "click," right click," "double click" commands that can be said without a hotkey. I'm still fairly new to Voice Attack so I haven't quite figured this one out yet.

These are some amazing profiles Hollywood! Thank you

Hey guys - thanks for the messages I'm currently on holiday with the family - nowhere near my PC or flightsims lol. I'll be getting back to your questions as soon as I can. Cheers

I can't get this working either... I had it working some time ago with Open Alpha.

I've updated VA to the latest stable version (1.5.12) as the beta isn't available to download right now for some reason.

I've changed the VAICOM Fetch Data file to point to the Beta folder.

I've installed the Static ATC mod to the Beta.

It recognizes commands but always gives me the "Invalid Radio" response.

If I press Num0,1,2,3 I get a "pssht" from 1 but none of the others.

Easy comms is on.

Many times if I hold the button and say "ATC Options" or "Flight Options" it will show me a menu (always the same one).

Any ideas?

Like I said I had it working with Alpha in the F15 before so the VA install is good... The VAICom install is likely good after changing the file to point at the beta install.

I get the impression that it's a config issue with the DCS mappings or the HOTAS setup.

Alright so I loaded up the F15 profile to see if that worked and it did :)...

So I went back to the Mirage profile and again checked PTT 0, 1, 2, 3 and all gave me the pssht sound. I got flight commands through on PTT1 (numpad 1). I then re-profiled my stick to use num1 instead of num 0 and I can now use flight commands at least in the Mirage. Did Razbam break something with a patch?

After upgrading to VA v2.00 my "Chatter" command now does this

05:15:04 PM - Recognized : 'chatter'

05:15:02 PM - Unable to play sound : [Legacy audio requires a valid wave file. (C:\Program Files (x86)\VoiceAttack\Apps\VAICOM\Sounds\Chatter\2014-07-24_13-46-37.aac]

05:15:02 PM - Legacy audio enabled. Unable to wait : C:\Program Files (x86)\VoiceAttack\Apps\VAICOM\Sounds\Chatter\2014-07-24_13-46-37.aac

and at this stage using the downloaded vaicom profiles am STILL not able to get the system to work under dcs whatsoever any suggestions?

Sorry if this has been posted before, I had a quick search and couldn't find anything. Are there commands for controlling the gunner and co pilot AI in the Huey?; Return Fire, Fire at Willl etc. And if not can they be added?

I don't really understand how the Vaicom know how the mod works; whether it outputs to a lua file, as I don't see a any keys referenced in the profiles like most voice input scripts. I guess id be interested, but for now I'm limited to asking silly questions.
