BravoYankee4 Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Slightly off topic movie from the times of Viggen development. The concept and doctrines was however pretty much the same when Viggen was put in to service, so a film made in the late 70'ies wouldn't be much different. In some way this movie put's a Swedish airframe in the correct context. [ame] [/ame] Yes, yet another Swedish film, but this one has english subtitles.

The film is from the mid 60s not late 70s =P. As you said its during the development of the viggen. And when the AJ 37 entered service in 1970 started to replaced the A 32 lansen in the attack/strike role (the Lansen is the strike aircraft seen after 10:00) And in 1980 when the JA 37 entered service it started replacing and complementing the J35 Draken (Though the latest J35 variants continued in service untill the late 90s after having been upgraded/refurbished in the late 80s) Edited April 5, 2016 by mattebubben

My point is that the movie was made during the time of design of the Viggen (mid-to late 60's), so obviously no Viggens in the movie - but if there was a film about Viggens some years later it would not be much different. Since STRIL and doctrines etc was pretty much the same - enhanced and improved of course.

Agremont Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 SwAFHF just posted some photos from ongoing maintenance of their AJS-37. :-) Wow. Looks like a lot of work.
RaXha Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Wow. Looks like a lot of work. I'm sure it is, it's the pre-season inspection before they refuel the aircraft and test run the engine. :-)
ShadoWw Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 To get this going again. I will ask a question which has probably been brought up before. What was the maximum range you could release a Rb04? and same for the Rb75 what is max range? START SPAMMING THIS THREAD AGAIN FOLKS
JanTelefon Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Maximum release range for the Rb 04 is 24 km. Recommended is 20 km. Rb 75 isn't in the version of the manual I have available sadly. :/

START SPAMMING THIS THREAD AGAIN FOLKS If my knowledge is correct: Rb 04C = ~15 km Rb 04E = ~30 km The Rb 75 was just a plain AGM-65B Maverick. Which also came in second version with a heavier warhead called Rb 75T, where the T stood for "tung" (heavy).
OziRekt Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Can one of the devs confirm what bombs we are getting, ie 250lb, 500lb, 1000lb, 2000lb, HE/cluster/frag, retarded, low drag, high drag? Right now the Mirage is all we really have for high-speed strike, with its rather limited ordinance delivery settings "We carried out many trials to try to find the answer to the fast, low-level intruder, but there is no adequate defense." — Air Vice-Marshal J. E. 'Johnnie' Johnson, RAF Can't charge us all
