Joesope Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 So I have a cheap Logitech extreme 3D pro. Can I get by in the A10C with just one hat button and a few other normal buttons or does it realistically require the warthog stick or something similar? I have got the dosh to spend on a new stick right now and im wondering if I should bother to learn the A10C?
JANGO70 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I've got a TM HOTAS X and it works fine. Ok that it's not the best, but for this money is the better i think... I you can spent more money, you can take a look at Saitek X55 RHINO or the beast...TM HOTAS WARTHOG I7 3770k, 8GB RAM 1866, GTX 770 OC 2GB, Asrock Z77 Extreme6 Intel Core I7-3770K 3.5Ghz G.Skill Sniper DDR3 1866 PC3-14900 16GB 4x4GB CL9 Asus GTX 970 Strix 4GB GDDR5 AeroCool Templarius Imperator 750W 80 Plus SilverSeagate Barracuda 7200.14 2TB SATA3 64MBCooler Master Hyper 212 EVO NOX Coolbay SX Devil USB 3.0
Livers Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I started with the A10C last March, using the same stick. It can be made to work fine with a good configuration. My problem with it was that the pots developed noise over time which made it difficult to use.
Kimi_uy Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 When i started in DCS i used to have a saitek av8r stick, which is as basic as it gets. Eventually when i wanted to get dedicated with the a10 i had to buy something else. I buyed the x52 for 60 bucks. Best bang for buck. So id reccomend saving mobey one weekend and get something like that. Mike77 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 (edited) A10C With a not so great joystick I'm in the same situation as you. Saving $ for a good controller setup. Check out this thread; a profile to use for the 3D Pro. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=81116 Basically, you can use the hat switch for several different functions by using a "modifier" key or keys. I'm going to use a lot of the assignments as shown in the linked thread, but tweak a few things. Hope that helps, Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. Johnny Dioxin Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Have you thought about using voice control in addition to the joystick? There are a few good progs about, and some are very cheap. Rongor Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 When I used to use a single-hat-stick, I used the hat for nearly everything in connection with all the modifier keys. So you only need one hand for the modifiers and are able to have your other hand on the stick all the time. Worked pretty good. Of course, some time in the future, we all get the TM HOTAS Warthog. Since I use that one, I never thought about the spent money again.
Mike77 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Also, you might be interested in the Logitech G13. It has 25 keys and a mini joystick. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001NEK2GE/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1449688769&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=logitech+g13&dpPl=1&dpID=41Ld7oHhk8L&ref=plSrch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. I'm new to DCS and haven't checked in to this yet, but it sounds promising. Thanks for the heads up. Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. Razi Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) I fly quite comfortably in the A-10C and Su-25T with the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I've posted my profiles here based on the profile that Mike77 posted of Tyrspawn's. You won't be able to use the profiles in Tyrspawn's thread because they are out dated. The ones that I posted are recreated for DCS 1.5+ (though should work with 1.2.16+) and all you have to do is add the modifier's. You might also want to adjust the axis tuning to suit your preference. Edited December 10, 2015 by Razi 1

Been so busy that I haven't had time to implement Tyrspawn's 3D Pro profile, so you saved me a lot of time and head scratching :) I read through the description and printed out the details, never realizing that the "code" was out of date. I just knew that the layout was pretty solid and it would save me a TON of time to have a profile to start with. Again, thank you very much for posting here and linking to the code that will ACTUALLY WORK  Rep on the way.
