The nose wheel steering is not working properly. It works for a short time then it stops. I'm able to steer on to the runway at Batumi, but can't keep it from rolling to the other side of the runway and into the grass. It won't line up on the runway...not even close!

Nose steering in the sabre is very bad I usually have to use differential braking to "amplify" the steering if its a sharp turn. Also dumb to ask but are you holding down the steering button the entire time you use nose steering?

Yep! I'm holding the button all the time. In fact, I repeated the procedure on DCS World 1.2 to see if I was going crazy and NO I'm not...yet! I can steer the 1.2 Sabre like nobody's business. Something is way off with the 1.5 Sabre. It works just fine until I get to the Batumi runway, then it stops responding and goes stright across into the grass...

Try it at Batumi...and go to the approach end of Rwy 31 for departure.

No problem here.

It's a simple "Start from ramp hot" mission at Batumi, nothing set except for a single player controlled F-86F. In the track, you're supposed to see me taxi from the parking position to runway 31, then all the way down to the other end at runway 13, then all the way back to 31, and finally back to a parking position at the ramp. Track recorded in 1.5.2, total duration ~8 minutes.

I used to curse the F-86F for its terrible ground handling characteristics, but at least since 1.5 I haven't had any issues with it. I think I may have simply adjusted, but I wouldn't rule out an actual improvement in ground handling in 1.5, pretty much the opposite of OP's observation. :)

Please post a track yourself so we can try and observe what's going wrong there.

I tried taxiing around Batumi for about 20 minutes and had no issue with the steering, other than my own ineptitude. The only issue I found was the taxiway on the south side of the runway is bugged where the Sabre sank a little into the ground and couldn't move, even at full throttle.

I noticed that my rudder pedals are not neutral. I've tried everything to center them, but they won't go neutral. This is probably the issue. I've even deleted my rudder pedals and the won't center. I'm lost...I can see them in the game and they are way off.

Is there any wind in the mission?

:music_whistling: Why, yes there is wind in that mission. It's set at 8m/s, in fact. :music_whistling: As it turns out, my aircraft is weathervaning as I enter the runway. Funny, the wind is only about 17-18mph. There must be something wrong.

As I recall, after one or two updates ago, the Saber's steering was affected by the engine RPM. Try keeping your engine power up a little more - say enough to keep the generator light out, and see if that doesn't help with the nose wheel steering.

I think that's already been fixed Razor,

The nose wheel steering is hydraulically power by the Utility Hydraulic system (which is always available with the engine running regardless of rpm), with electrical power for the nose wheel steering button coming from the primary bus (which is powered by the battery if the generator is off line).

The only items you should lose when the generator is offline (engine below 45%), are the items connected to the secondary electrical bus.

The current steering problem is just down to wind influencing the rudder more than pilot, just set the wind to zero in any mission you want to fly for now.

So, the steering was fixed and now it's broken again?? I mean, as long as the wind is not blowing it's not a problem but if it is, you don't have enough authority in either the steering or differential braking to control the plane while taxiing??

What was fixed was the way the wheel steering mechanism was activated in initial 1.5 version. Wind influence issue in 1.5.2 s another kettle of fish.
