I had installed (apart from the released 1.2.16) both the Open Beta 1.5 and the Open Alpha 2.0.

Now 1.5.2 is released and my original installation was upgraded from 1.2.16 to 1.5.2.

Can I now uninstall the Open Beta 1.5?

Yes, if you don't want to recieve further beta updates and rather wait for them to get released to the stable branch.

So if I have the Beta and never had 1.2 do I have to re-download 1.5? Or does the beta update itself to the stable release? Curently have installed 1.5.2 something beta.

release 1.2 converts to 1.5 release and will stay the most stable release. Tested changes from the Open beta will be released here.

1.5 open beta stays 1.5 open beta. (if you remove this then you will not take part in testing new stuff)

2.0 Open Alpha will update and replace Open Beta when the Caucasus and Nevada maps both supports the same GFX engine. The Open Alpha will sees to exist when both maps works and is tested in same engine.

So if you like taking part in testing new stuff then you should have all three versions installed.

I guess I should download 1.5 for multiplayer compatability then?

When you create a release install the updater will use files from your 1.5 beta and download only the changed files. So it will mean a lot less to download if you create your release install before removing the open beta 1.5.

There will be more beta installs in the future. At the moment the open beta and release versions are the same, but that will change.

Update V1.2 (or download the installer). Most of the content will be copied over. Delete beta branch. Or keep it if you want more frequent (but less stable) updates. I imagine the beta will move over to 2.0 in the coming weeks.

He wrote he doesn't have any 1.2 install to update.

Although I don't do online gaming, the multiplayer compatibility issue brings interesting question - at the moment 1.5.2 OB and 1.5.2 release branch are exactly the same - does it mean that players having the former can connect to the servers with the latter (or vice versa)? Did anyone try doing something like that in the past?
