It's a bug with some cockpit lights being way too dim than they should, possibly related to how 1.5.2 deals with lighting. The NMSP is affected as well.

Not hijacking but it's a related question/inquiry...the manual mentions wingtip spotlights point toward front fuselage...can't figure how to turn on. Also, would they illuminate the ground any better than just nosewheel spot?

Try make a search in the DCS Flight Manual by pressing Ctrl F in the Adobe Reader, then write in the search field "fuselage". Then keep pressing the Next button in the Search until you come up on page 162, talking about the Lighting Control Panel. Nose floodlight and illumination switch is in the middle, between four turning knobs. Is this what you were looking for (and could have find in the manual) maybe? :music_whistling:

I think this has to do with airborne refueling, so look up the documentation for that cockpit panel.

On the lighting panel on the right side of the pit, just aft of the formation lights dial you will see "Nose illumination", toggle that on. Now, two lights coming from the wings will point towards the front fuselage.

In addition, when refueling u have the refueling lighting dial in the fuel panel (left console) which will set the brightness of the refueling gate aswell as the lights illumunating the engine intakes. For this you need to have "Nose illumination" enabled on the lighting panel (right console).

EDIT: And, as snoopy mentioned, lighting in the a10 has been bugged since 1.5 rolled out.

Also the air refueling lights are not working well, as you can see here, even with slipway closed, the light appears "Ready".

Well, we are getting a bit off, maybe we should move to any AAR topic?...

Anyway, even tough the Manual writes on page 133: Line check button doesn't have any function in the sim, if I press it on the way to refuel, the Ready light definitely lights up for me in 2-3 minutes, as it supposed in RL. Try cycling Refueling door handle, see if Ready lights disappear after closing it. Unless you are sure you never pressed Line check button of course, and I'm still using 1.2.16, to keep away some bugs still existing in 1.5. :smilewink:

I thought it was a bug..

IF I'm right, it's rather a feature that came in after the Maual was finished. The line check button checks the integrity of the (re)fuel system (before a refueling attempt) with a bit of overpressure air (?), to avoid any leakage due to high pressure transfer I assume, causing the fuel to pool up who knows where inside the fuselage, which is not very "healthy"... :)

I hope someone with more authentic knowledge corrects me if I'm wrong in any regard. Snoopy maybe?... ;)

Page 128 at the manual, it says: " After nozzle is removed, the DISCONNECT light will come on. After the slipway door has been closed, the light will go off."

Maybe I misunderstood what you wrote: "...even with slipway closed, the light appears "Ready". You didn't write if this happens before or after refueling.

My answer referred to "before" refueling, as a preliminary system check, your quote refers to an "after" successfull refueling scenario. Of course if the light appears for you even without a refueling intent, or without touching any button, then it is a bug. Sorry for confusion, if any.

Again, it is not a bug...

From the -1:

"After refueling disconnect and when the slipway door is closed, the air refueling manifold forward of the main tank is automatically purged of fuel by air pressure. The READY light will illuminate for up to three minutes during the purge cycle. The fuel in the line is forced into the R-MAIN tank."
