Necroscope Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Use the attachment below if you wish to use the older 1.5.2 visibility values (unpack to Config\terrain folder in DCS) Wow! Numbers in lines for 1.5.3 are doubled, tripled or even *10! Looks scary! Всех убью, один останусь!
msalama Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Try to do a repair:doh: Indeed. Thanks for the reminder, it _did_ help some. To do a repair when problems occur should be obvious; alas, it's also an elementary step I always tend to forget. So thanks again - and I honestly mean it. But v1.5.2 ran much better regardless TBH, even after I toned down the v1.5.3 visibility values. So I don't know, I'm kind of eagerly waiting for the next episode here still... ;) S! Jacks Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I used to get 60fps soldly but since update I get 40-50 and trackir is jerky when view panning meaning the game is not enjoyable in its current state. ED please fix this issue as we should need super PCs to run this on medium to high settings ultimately people will not play a game with poor graphics performance. WoOdZ Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 So I have had another go at 1.5.3. If you use high settings for everything with a reasonably hi end PC 60 fps is within your grasp. I am getting between 45 - 100 fps but for the most part I am at or around 60 fps and I think it does look better than much higher settings in 1.5.2 With track ir it is once again a decent experience. msalama Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 with a reasonably hi end PC 60 fps is within your grasp Oh, definitely. It's just that those 60 f/s aren't at all fluid anymore, but rather a stutterfest. Bumma  The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
Cytt0rak Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I tried many setting, stutters are not going away. I hope devs can fix this in upcoming patches. These micro stutters are deadly in dogfighting.
Flocke.LE Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I found something interesting with my nvidia gtx 970 gpu... when i enable shadow play within geforce experience (green button switch), all the stuttering is gone. as soon as i disable it, the stuttering is there again. tested with driver version 361.75. please check if this is reproducable. -------------------------------------------- i7 12700F | 64GB | RTX 4090 | Asus Z690-P WIFI D4 | 2TB SSD

MaverickET Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 (edited) Use the attachment below if you wish to use the older 1.5.2 visibility values (unpack to Config\terrain folder in DCS) This fixed it! I'm back to 60 FPS. Thanks Mustang :) I must add though for anyone experiencing issues with the Visibility Range values in 1.5.3, I was able to go from 30 FPS to around 40-45 FPS by upgrading to NVIDIA Driver 361.91. I suggest upgrading display drivers to the most recent one first, and then only using 1.5.2 Visibility Range settings if you still experience stutters. Your performance increase due to drivers might vary, so IMO it's a trade-off between eye-candy (using 1.5.3 settings) and smoother frame-rates (1.5.2 settings). Enduro14 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 After testing I had fps drop but not that significant with setting draw distance at ultra. I dropped it down to high and it is perfectly fine now and looks better than ultra of previous patch. No stuttering here, and that's a interesting bit about nvidia shadow play. Enduro14 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 ? I just don't have good people skills. maybe a master thread should be made that lists all work arounds for fps and other issues. But then again it's beta and alpha Intel 8700k @5ghz, 32gb ram, 1080ti, Rift S
hansangb Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Interesting. I haven't had a chance to play the latest 1.5+ version. I'll give it a shot and report back. Enduro14 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 So from reading throughout the forums look at the settings like this The new medium is the old high/ultra and adjust off of that visibility distance setting Intel 8700k @5ghz, 32gb ram, 1080ti, Rift S
Nedum Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 (edited) But this doesn't expalin why the GPU is now "idiling"!? 50% GPU load is nothing for a GTX 980Ti. Even so the visibility has changed the GPU load should be high. Before the Patch even with all set to high I had min. 60 FPS. With terrain shadows to flat and medium shadows I could run this game with mostly 80 FPS @ Ultra visibility range and now with medium visibility range and flat shadows I can't reach high FPS and the GPU load goes down all the time. There is something wrong with the program. The changes may be one reason but not the visibility. If so the GPU load would be high as it was before patch 1.5.3. Enduro14 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I don't necessary agree as I have seen this with previous patches with 3D. I think with these settings we have seen the object count limit in dx11 on this engine or maybe their is something really goofy going on. But I'm inclined to think where hitting a wall and some tweaking needs to be done. It's obvious it's the object count with the new visibility settings at least that's what I have noticed and that is why when we use 3D or the oculus rift the most important setting is draw distance as even still with edge object count on the cpu is a major factor. Your not getting high gpu loads because your video card is a 980ti at 1920x1200. Select dsr at 4K and see the gpu load but you will also notice the gpu load drop when the cpu is getting hammered by object count. Intel 8700k @5ghz, 32gb ram, 1080ti, Rift S
c84 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 drop from 60fps to 30 or less Mustang old Lua files helps a bit, but i think there is something else. - Why suddenly thousands of objects while flying over town? btw Seems, ED worked hard to make some ''SmallShit'' (see attachment :-)

Beagle One Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 1.53 runs noticeably worse compared to last 1.2 Most notably is lots of pauses like the lagspikes we were used in MP, only that this happens in SP too now. I could run 1.2 basically maxed out and now cant even get smopth frames in medium setting. usinf flat terrain shadows and no HDR even removing AA and AF does not really help.

Stonehouse Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Just wondering whether people notice the same framerate issues in external view? My thought was perhaps certain aircraft cockpits might be worse fps wise than others with 1.5.3? I can remember for instance when the P-51 hadn't been out long and probably wasn't optimised fully that a friend saw a significant fps drop sitting in the P51 over an A10. Has anyone tried testing different aircraft/external F2 view to see if it is uniformly a problem regardless of aircraft/perhaps related to cockpit view interacting with the outside view? ie Does the terrain cause the same effect of big drops in fps in F2 view?
