OverDhill Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Has anyone used a Buttkicker (or other tactile transducer) with DCS? How well did it work?
Sporg Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 You should look into these two threads. First one is about a FFB seat with better resolution than a ButtKicker or similar: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=134704 A guy (now a team) has developed software, "SimShaker", that delivers FFB effects from DCS to the seat. Later on they added a sound module, so that the software can now also deliver the effects to a ButtKicker: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=144060 I have the FFB seat and it is really good. Very good effects and gives room to more intuitive "seat of the pants" flying. wasyl00 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 (edited) I have butkicker gamer 2 and it work great with DCS (thanks to Sound Module by Andre) but for ideal operation you'll need drive it with software like Simshaker, Simvibe(second one not cheap) using additional $2 USB sound card instead of default sound as input. Kuky Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 (edited) ButtKicker with SimShaker works pretty damn good. And what they said... have spare sound card to connect ButtKicker to (to Subwoofer output) Edited January 12, 2016 by Kuky PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
Warhog Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I love mine. Unfortunately I had to give up my USB headset for it because you need an outlet for a sub woofer which means using the on board sound card. bayu3008 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I have the buttkicker gamer 2, and it's great. The only complain i have is that the sound travels downstairs (i have wood floor), and into another room when i turn up the "volume" to high. I also pair this with SubPac to get more vibration on my back.

hannibal Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 also if your buttkicker starts to "bottom out".. MAKE SURE YOU USE KINETIC ISOLATORS!! find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
Brewnix Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I am using the ButtKicker too With Andre's simshaker. Outstanding addition to the buttkicker. Great work on the software and no more vibrating when someone talks on teamspeak. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Kuky Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Today I've added second Buttkicker LFE under my seat :) As if one wasn't enough :D PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
hannibal Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Today I've added second Buttkicker LFE under my seat :) As if one wasn't enough :D Hey! What amplifier do you use to power your LFE? Kuky Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Hey! What amplifier do you use to power your LFE? Do you have photos of your set up? I am curious of what sound card you use... thanks for any info :D I am using ButtKicker LFE Kit that has 1000W amp and comes with single transducer (http://www.selby.com.au/brands/buttkicker/buttkicker-lfe-kit-for-next-level-racing-simulator-cockpit-by-pagnian-imports.html). I use one PCI-e sound card for the 5.1 speakers, then another PCI sound card for the Headset, and ButtKicker / SimShaker is using Motherboard Sound (just the woofer output). Trick to get them all working together (the 3 sound cards) is that they are all different brand/chipset. Having tried 2x Creative X-Fi sound cards I find they don't work together as only one card is seen by the OS at any time (and its the last one installed). I'll get a picture or two tonight PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
hannibal Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I'll get a picture or two tonight very much appreciated!!!!! i also run a LFE, but im not using their amp, i read that it could be problematic, so i ended up getting crown amps, which has safety features, but the only drawback is that it doesnt handle 5Hz. wow, three sound cards? do you use the application to separate the sounds between the cards? find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179

Brewnix Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Today I've added second Buttkicker LFE under my seat :) As if one wasn't enough :D Hey Kuky wondering so you added a second kicker inline with the first one. Or did you figure out how to separate the 2 kickers for right and left kickers? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
f4l0 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Instead of using three sound cards, one could invest some money in a real multi channel sound card/interface. These are usually used for audio production and haves several input and output channels. Imho the best feature is direct monitoring, then you can listen directly to your microphone without delay. Very useful when playing with headsets ;). f4l0 Developer of Simshaker for Aviators Feel the brrrrttt: [Official] SimShaker for Aviators Forums thread at ED forums SimShaker for Aviators (simshaker-for-aviators.github.io)

Yes 3 sound cards are a lot I got lucky when I ran my buttkicker I have been flying with a set of astro's that use fiber toss link which free'd up the analog bass output jack on the onboard sound. Kuky Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Hey Kuky wondering so you added a second kicker inline with the first one. Or did you figure out how to separate the 2 kickers for right and left kickers? As the amplifier is Mono (not a regular Hi-Fi Amp) you'd need 2 such Amps... which I thought about trying but it would be another $500 on top of getting second transducer, which I thought was a lot also considering I would be using double the power, cables and need more space (right now amp is just sitting on the floor, so adding second I would either have to put second on top but I didn't like this in case heat from bottom amp would go towards the top one, but I might do some day later on as SimShaker has 2 working channels :music_whistling:) So what I've done is put the 2 transducers in parallel on same channel. Instead of using three sound cards, one could invest some money in a real multi channel sound card/interface. These are usually used for audio production and haves several input and output channels. Imho the best feature is direct monitoring, then you can listen directly to your microphone without delay. Very useful when playing with headsets ;). Sound cards are not too expensive so wasn't too much to do it, plus motherboard sound I never used came in handy for the ButtKicker. Kuky Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) Anyway, here's few pics. The seat is "sitting" on 4 heavy duty springs and transducers are underneath the seat, screwed side by side. PS: the "enclosure" is just as an experiment as I wanted to see what it feels like to be sitting "inside the pit" so I haven't done much to make it look pretty :D and also the TV needed something to be fixed on, so it came in handy to hold the TV. The whole thing is easy to take apart.
